Session Start: Fri Oct 13 18:11:37 2006 Session Ident: #Aeoth [18:11:37] * Now talking in #Aeoth [18:11:41] * NinjaDebugger is now known as Clarissa [18:12:19] * CCD is now known as Leo [18:22:43] Who are we missing? [18:23:48] God and Jesus [18:24:23] UR MOM. [18:24:40] Is rated E for every one? [18:24:47] Damn straight. [18:28:36] * Zegon loosens up. Okay, game, right. [18:28:43] HANK LIEK GAME [18:28:55] Does Hank LIEK MUDKIP? [18:29:05] N [18:34:56] [We join our band of adventurers again as they're going through the slums, guided by the young escort of Elijah. Almost as if on-cue, the skies have darkened a little thanks to some dense cloud cover coming in from the seas, but it doesn't look like rain... yet. This secion of the city, as already described, is run-down and buildings are generally packed closely together, with no sense of fire code or personal space present.] [18:36:05] [Unpleasent odors emerge from the sewers as you pass, but Khrosk and Elijah don't seem to mind in the least. You may, on the other hand, have your own reactions. Every so often there's a homeless person or beggar, as well as some thugs just kinda hanging around.] [18:37:46] [It's obvious that any sort of unfortunate incident, weather it be a loose fireball, disease, or collapsed building would affect much more than just one person, as the closeness proves. Loud yelling is common, and in the distance you can hear the fighting of rival gangs, although no extortion seems to be outwardly apparent on your trip so far.] [18:38:33] [You've been travelling for at least 50 minutes down the twisty roads, backroads, and even across some rooftops as Elijah has taken you through the slums.] [18:40:16] * Elijah sniffs carefully and peeks around the corner, motioning for people to stop while he waits a few moments, and them motions again for the group to follow has he walks across the street. "Not much further. The P3s are very touchy about their territory, don't want to get caught 'round here looking the way you look. They'll decend on you like, um... Like a pack of wolves, yeah." [18:40:21] [Session start!] [18:40:33] * Hank looks rather at home, but tugs the cloak a little tighter as he looks at the sky. He nods. [18:40:37] * Kardos actually gawks more in this part of town than in the others previously visited. He has a befuddled expression on his face. [18:40:52] * Leo would take time dropping some coin here or there when he saw some one with a begging bowl. He looks hurt by the conditions more then anything else. [18:42:18] * Kardos has followed up on Leo's example after inquiring about it. This idea seems to confuse him, as well. [18:42:31] * Lucy moves along cautiously, but confidently, taking in the... sights [18:43:50] * Clarissa doesn't seem to mind the smell at all, aside from the occasional rub at her nose. [18:44:21] * Kardos has been coughing and gagging for a while; after a few minutes, he finally produced a piece of thick cloth that he has tied over his face like a crude mask. [18:44:57] * Clarissa eyes Kardos. "What ARE you doing?" [18:45:18] Way to look suspicious. [18:46:02] ... you might rethink that fashion statement, friend. [18:46:08] My apologies. But the panoply of smells here are unbearable. [18:46:18] And... I hadn't intended to make a fashion statement. [18:46:31] * Clarissa rolls her eyes. [18:46:33] Come here, Kardos. [18:46:39] And take that thing off, you'll make people nervous. [18:46:41] The what of smells? [18:47:03] * Khrosk shrugs and lumbers along, looking right at home despite being a ranger. [18:47:09] * Kardos takes it off. "It didn't do a good job, in any event. And, 'large collection', Elijah." [18:47:09] * Leo shakes his head. "Tr..try to bare it. I know it's hard, but not as hard as...some other things." He pointed looks at the living conditions as he says that. [18:47:57] Why don't'cha just say 'reeking shit' then? [18:48:11] Because he wants to sound smart. [18:48:14] Kardos, come HERE. [18:48:18] 'Shit'? [18:48:33] * Kardos is there already. [18:48:39] * Hank raises an eyebrow. "Were you raised in a temple?" [18:48:45] * Clarissa looks up at Kardos, who fairly towers over her. "Down HERE, you." [18:49:08] * Kardos leans over. "No. I was raised by... well, myself. Wherever I happened to be at the moment." [18:49:31] I was first taught Common two years ago by an Elven mage. [18:49:40] * Clarissa pulls a couple leaves out of a pouch at her waist, bruises them thoroughly, then rolls them up and shoves them up Kardos' nostrils. [18:49:43] * Hank grins. "You seem to have missed a few of the required colloquialisms. I can help, if you like." [18:50:06] Please, let us not dirty this place more. [18:50:46] * Kardos blinks. "Remarkable. Thank you, Clarissa." He straightens up. "And I should be obliged, Hank." Clearly, he doesn't know what's what. [18:51:14] * Clarissa rubs a bit of the sap mint under her own nose. [18:51:42] It's my pleasure, believe me. [18:51:58] * Leo shoots Hank a harsh look. "AFTER this is done." [18:52:11] Of course. Time and a place, and all that. [18:52:19] * Kardos starts wondering how to combine this with lamb. [18:52:21] * Hank looks around. "Speaking of, shall we?" [18:52:37] * Clarissa shrugs and keeps following Elijah. [18:53:02] Ought I draw my weapon? [18:53:20] No. VERY no. [18:53:32] * Kardos nods. [18:53:57] Time and a place, friend. [18:54:33] No, we don't draw weapons. [18:55:13] Fine by me. [18:55:27] * Kardos accepts this wisdom without complaint. [18:55:32] Sure, draw it if you want to end up dead in the gutter. * He motions to a pair of humanoids, one half-orc, one half-elf, who look to be itching for a fight. [18:56:36] * Lucy walks along, relatively content. [18:57:24] * Leo nods just walking along. [18:57:36] * Kardos does not make eye-contact with the thugs as he continues after the others. [19:03:56] * Elijah leads you around a corner, through a backalley, and almost out of nowhere there's the back of a huge theater in front of you. Apparently the alleyway leads to the straight back of it. The structure is unlike most of the surrounding area, being comprised of primarily stone, with clear wood beams in place to hld various parts up. It appears to be about 20 ft. high and *very* wide at the base. Clearly 100 ft., maybe more. [19:06:33] [In its heyday, the theater must have been pretty popular, or they built it trying to attract more attention to thisrather condemned part of the city. The cornerstone states the place was built in 1116 ECE, which everyone knows is about a century ago. In summary, it's a very old structure that seems out of place in this part of town.] [19:07:21] * Kardos tilts his head at this and makes a mental note to ask about it later. [19:07:58] * Lucy looks over the building, impressed. "I've got to check this place out sometime." [19:07:59] * Leo shakes his head. "An old sun that has set long ago." [19:08:44] [The sides are dirty and look like they haven't been cleaned in ages. Same with the pillars. The writing on the side has been sullied up so much as to be illegable except for one phrase in old Common: 'Ye not have seen the last of me.'] [19:08:53] How sad. [19:10:05] I take it this as far as we are guided? [19:10:28] Show us the entrance, and we'll take it from there. [19:11:18] * Hank looks up at the theater. He squints his eyes. [19:12:22] Almost, almost. You wanted a quiet way in, right? I hope ya don't mind gettin' a little dirty. [19:12:54] * Kardos shrugs. [19:12:58] Lead on. [19:13:23] As long as it's only a little. [19:13:44] Depends on how many rats decide to greet us in the sewers. [19:14:02] Oh, EW. [19:14:08] * Lucy frowns. [19:14:48] Well, one of you guys probably knows about treating infections at least, right? [19:15:38] I can heal, though the tmeple will be better for treating such things. [19:16:43] It's not the infections you gotta worry about. Unless you run into one of the were-rats. Then you got a lot to worry 'bout, but those are only stories... I think. Kinda like finding Sea Cats in the sewers." [19:17:43] * Clarissa sighs. "Let's just get it over with." [19:17:44] Stories from who? [19:17:58] Lead on indeed. [19:18:00] * Hank shrugs. "It's as real, more or less, as any urban legend. [19:18:03] * Lucy walks along [19:18:18] Everyone ya talk to. There's a ton of sewers under the city. [19:19:42] * Elijah looks around carefully, and knocks on the nearby fences, eventually hearing what he wants to hear and kicks aside some rubble, revealing a small hole underneath the fence that he crawls through. "Through here, the easiest way into the sewers isn't far." [19:20:04] * Clarissa takes off her hat and pushes it through, then crawls after it. [19:20:27] * Kardos goes immediately after Clarissa. [19:20:27] * Hank wraps his cloak a little tighter and climbs through. [19:21:00] * Clarissa rolls to her feet, slaps her hat back on, and keeps following. [19:21:38] * Kardos does likewise, save he has no hat. [19:21:45] * Lucy moves along, bearing it sans grin. [19:21:53] [Once everyone is through he runs forward to one of the condemned houses on the right and picks the rotted planks blocking the doorway up and puts them to the side. "In here."] [19:22:09] Once in, we come up under the theater? [19:22:16] I hope you have some light? And close the door when we get in, don't want anyone finding it. [19:22:20] ... Duh. [19:22:36] * Leo pulls out his morning star. "We have light." [19:22:47] * Kardos nods. [19:23:21] * The morning star is shining like a miniture sun, he's holding it as a latern right now* [19:23:45] * Lucy watches the weapon and smiles a bit. "That looks pretty awesome." [19:24:03] * Kardos tilts his head at this. [19:24:28] * Clarissa waves her hand. "Standard basic enchantment, really." [19:24:53] Some of the best things in life are standard. [19:25:15] Whoo, fancy stuff there. [19:25:43] * Kardos follows Elijah in, once he opens the door. [19:25:52] It's a little more then the basic on. [19:25:57] ((one)) [19:26:11] * Hank follows! [19:27:43] * Elijah pulls out a stone and says a short phrase in Elvish, the stone gaining light and levitating around his head. It appears to be nothing but a simple magic trinket, though. He knocks his foot on the planks of the house, eventually finding a hollow spot and lifting the canvas over it to reveal a trap door which he lifts up and jumps into, a *splash* being heard when he hits the bottom. Khrosk follows suit. [19:28:11] * Khrosk yells when he hits the bottom. "This place smellier than above!" [19:28:43] * Lucy grimaces and follows. [19:29:04] * Clarissa takes a moment to rub more mint on her nose and then climbs down after. [19:29:08] * Leo grunts and follows not looking forward to this. [19:29:19] * Hank climbs down. He doesn't look too put out. [19:29:36] * Kardos follows in carefully. [19:32:01] * Clarissa gets down, takes one unfortunate whiff of the stench, and leaves her lunch to decorate the wall. [19:32:19] * Leo looks a little sick as the smell settles around him and adds to it with one powerful heave, he doubles over and keeps dry heaving for a bit. [19:32:43] * Elijah looks a little sheepish at the losing of lunch. "Uh, yeah. I did that first time here too. Ya get used to it." [19:33:41] After a while. [19:33:43] Oooooh, I don't think any god even the insane ones would want this... [19:34:12] * Clarissa wipes away tears. [19:34:21] Hurry. Let's get out of here. [19:34:28] * Kardos looks disgusted, but doesn't seem about to puke. [19:34:31] * Clarissa whispers, to avoid taking any more of the deadly air. [19:34:35] Right this way. [19:35:29] * Leo holds his mace as high as he can moving along. [19:35:36] * Elijah starts trudging forward through the filth before getting to the side, where there's some solid footing for the party to get on. [19:35:53] * Kardos follows Elijah. [19:36:17] * Lucy steps along, wanting to get this over with as soon as possible [19:38:20] I have to say, having a guide is a lot more preferable to stumbling about in sewers alone. [19:38:30] * Hank pauses. "Not that I'd know, really." [19:38:47] [The sewers have little non-filth-covered stuff to speak of, and there's mildew on the walls, but there's little that can be done about that. Coming to a 4-way 90 degree intersection about 25 ft. from where you entered, Elijah heads left. "Sure ya wouldn't."] [19:39:07] * Clarissa coughs weakly. [19:39:20] * Clarissa whispers hoarsely, "faster, please" [19:40:03] * Kardos follows Elijah first. "If something attacks, get behind me." [19:40:26] Don't have to tell me twice. [19:41:35] * Hank turns left. "There really ARE worse parts of a city. I mean, you're lucky to even have sewers to BE in. [19:42:02] * Elijah walks forward and stops suddenly, about 10 ft. from the intersection. "Down we go." There's a ladder there that he starts climbing down. Apparently this particular path *has* been frequented before. "Oooh yeah. You should see some of the slums on the outskirts." [19:42:15] Less talk, more move. [19:42:23] * Clarissa skids down the ladder as quickly as she can. [19:42:40] * Hank slides down the latter. [19:43:35] * The ladder's about 10 ft. down, and Elijah trudges forward about 40 ft. before coming to an intersection to the right. "Uh... crap guys. I think they've blocked this entrance off, or something. There's another way there, but... it requires a lot more getting dirty." [19:43:58] * Leo gulps following, purposely not taking deep breaths. [19:45:04] * Lucy follows. [19:45:11] * Lucy doesn't even think about it anymore [19:45:26] How much of a blockage? [19:45:27] ...how about I just break down the blockade? [19:45:42] I was having similar thoughts. [19:45:54] After you, young lady. [19:46:12] That would be...best. [19:46:41] * Kardos is still right behind Elijah, mind. [19:48:16] [The path looks to lead to a passageway, but is apparently blocked off by at least 4 feet, floor to ceiling, of wooden planks, rocks, rubble, and other debris. Rats of Normal Size are scurrying around in the rubble, making their rat noises and obviously noting the light. Elijah makes his way behind Kardos. "I don't know. You don't have some like, magic doohickey that could move tons of stuff, right?" [19:48:41] Something like that. [19:49:45] I have a large sword, a crowbar, and a shovel. The sword is magic. Will that work?ter you, young lady. [19:49:46] That would be...best. [19:49:46] * Kardos is still right behind Elijah, mind. [19:49:46] [The path looks to lead to a passageway, but is apparently blocked off by at least 4 feet, floor to ceiling, of wooden planks, rocks, rubble, and other debris. Rats of Normal Size are scurrying around in the rubble, making their rat noises and obviously noting the light. Elijah makes his way behind Kardos. "I don't know. You don't have some like, magic doohickey that could move tons of stuff, right?" [19:49:50] ( ... ) [19:49:56] ( Fucking keyboard. >_< ) [19:50:03] (x.x) [19:51:16] I'm sure we can find a way around it. [19:51:33] Through would be simpler. [19:51:44] Although the noise may attract unwanted attention. [19:53:29] Wait. [19:53:32] Structural. [19:53:50] * Clarissa sighs. [19:53:53] We go the long way. [19:53:57] Do we want to destroy it anyway? [19:53:59] That's load-bearing junk. [19:54:26] Okay. We go the long way. [19:54:41] Fuck man. Didn't think it'd be this bad. [19:54:44] * Hank nods. "I'll trust your judgement. Which way's the long way?" [19:55:08] We shall survive despite it. [19:57:11] * Elijah's ears move noticably. Apparently he's not all human. "Uh, guys... remember those rats I mentioned?" [19:57:29] Which ones? [19:57:37] The wererats? [19:57:50] Yeah... [19:57:51] Maybe? I know we have Rats of Unusual Size, though... [19:58:25] Let's go. We'll get as far as we can before we have to fight. [19:58:36] The young lady has wisdom. [19:58:38] Yes. [19:58:45] * Lucy nods. [19:59:01] You go first; Lucy and I will follow between you and them. [19:59:03] Oh, hooray. I haven't been in a scrap in a while. [19:59:32] YOU can be the one dumped in the muck, then. [19:59:34] * Khrosk takes his double-axe and prepares it. "Khrosk see things moving that shouldn't move." [19:59:36] * Lucy looks behind briefly. "I just want a fight in a bigger area." [19:59:36] * Clarissa shudders. [20:00:34] * Khrosk jumps into the water. "Come out and play!" [20:00:46] We will fight in a bigger area, if we can... or not. [20:00:52] * Err, well... maybe sewege is a better way to describe it. [20:09:29] * Now that they've come into view, there are a swarm of rats coming your way. Only five of them are Rats of Unusual Size, though, one of them being almost as large as a human, while the other four are big enough to be bigger than some dogs. They managed to creep up on you, and one bites at Kardos, managing to land a solid bite in his ankle. [20:19:38] * Lucy steps forward and brings up her axe, swinging it at the one hurting Kardos!@ [20:23:39] [Lucy cleanly knocks two of the rats out cold with one solid swing, easily causing near-fatal wounds to both of the nearby rats. They're both unconcious, one undershit and the other against the wall, bleading heavily. [20:23:39] ] [20:24:54] * Khrosk stands his ground, ready to intercept any rats that come torwards Clarissa. [20:28:27] * Clarissa pricks her finger, the barest tiny prick she can possibly manage and still cast. Drawing a circle as quickly as she can, she calls forth a crusty white imp, hovering in midair. It spews a cone of something white and crystalline at them, but DAMN, those rats are fast. [20:36:40] * Kardos inches forward, minding his Kardos Heel, and takes two swipes at one of the rats guaring the apparent leader of the pack; the first is a glancing blow, but the second is telling and splatters the rat across the near wall. [20:41:18] [The remaining smaller rat tries to take vengence for those with it and tries to bite at Lucy, but doesn't manage to penetrate her armor with its teeth. [20:41:18] ] [20:47:33] * Hank drops his leg, rolling around to the side of the last small rat, right through a nice pile of crap. He rolls to his feet and spits the last rat quare through. [20:47:54] ... dang! Now the cloak will need cleaning. [20:48:18] [The large rat skrees like, well, a big rat, and more rats make themselves apparent while the bigger rat makes a *very* hastey exit after the shit hits the fan... almost literally for him.] [20:54:31] I, uh... *takes a deep breath* Maybe you should find a different way in? That rat was bigger than any of the others I normally see down here... And they don't normally attack like that, either. [20:54:51] No, we can keep going. [20:56:23] Then let's. [20:56:25] Okay, okay. Just, uh... yeah. [20:56:45] * Hank brushes at his cloak. "Yes. Anytime is good." [20:57:08] * The rest of the rats don't seem nearly as agressive as the others, so assuming you don't bother them, they won't bother you. [20:58:58] Around this, uh... Okay, this way. [20:59:08] * Lucy nods and follows. "You alright?" [21:01:37] * Hank follows Elijah. [21:01:57] * Elijah leads the group around the corner, further down by a good 20 ft., then stops at an intersection. "Yeah, I'm fine." The directions split in a 'Y' intersection. [21:03:14] * Elijah seems to be looking for something, but can't seem to find it. [21:03:39] * Clarissa points to a cover. "Is that it?" [21:07:55] * Zegon (zegon@c-24-15-245-98.hsd1.il.comcast.net) Quit (Ping timeout) [21:08:31] * Zegon (zegon@c-24-15-245-98.hsd1.il.comcast.net) has joined #Aeoth [21:10:14] * Elijah blinks and looks back at Clarissa's pointing. "Yeah, that's it. We have to go deeper down then up, through a huge cavern, and I *know* you can get into the theater from there. All of the sewage in this part of the city goes there." [21:10:50] * Elijah tries lifting the cover but can't get it up. "Hey, can you guys lift this off? Sometimes they put this thing back on, it's a pain to move though." [21:10:50] * Clarissa turns green. [21:11:11] Eugh... I'll try. I've got gauntlets. [21:11:41] * Lucy gives it a try [21:12:50] * Lucy gives it a few experimental pushes to judge its weight and balance, then gives it one solid shove, lifting it. Is that fresh air pouring in? [21:13:55] [Why yes, yes it is. And stale air pouring out. Still, it's not THAT much worse than what you're in already, so it's hard to notice. It's pitch black down there, though, not even light from the various entrances to the sewer get down there.] [21:13:55] Who wants to go first? [21:13:57] [Session End!] [21:15:02] * Hank (chamelaeon@ip68-229-190-130.om.om.cox.net) Quit (Quit: ) [21:15:06] * Clarissa is now known as NinjaDebugger [21:15:08] * NinjaDebugger (amakoto@ip24-252-56-222.om.om.cox.net) has left #Aeoth [21:15:11] * Zegon (zegon@c-24-15-245-98.hsd1.il.comcast.net) Quit (Quit: REBOOT!)
