Session Start: Fri Jan 19 18:08:56 2007 Session Ident: #Aeoth [18:08:56] * Now talking in #Aeoth [18:08:56] * Topic is ' We invented the internet, motherfuckers. Here, have some!' [18:08:56] * Set by Zegon on Fri Jan 12 18:41:56 [18:14:33] * Robin (YU-Mei@host-206-54-194-142.entouch.net) has joined #Aeoth [18:14:40] * Robin is now known as Kardos [18:17:08] Much much to my dismay, CCD's going to be late. *again*. [18:17:47] ... [18:18:37] Did I not JUST RANT LAST NIGHT ABOUT PEOPLE BEING REGULARLY LATE TO GAMES THEY JUST SIGNED UP FOR? [18:22:57] Probably. [18:23:27] * Clarissa collapses. [18:29:49] So I'm going to try and get things started anyways. [18:31:18] Rait. [18:31:51] Ralts. [18:31:54] Kirlia. [18:31:58] GARDEVOIR [18:32:11] * Clarissa pelts Dem with Gardevoir porn. [18:32:30] IT'S IMPOSSABLE TO TELL A MALE GARDEVOIR FROM A FEMALE ONE. [18:32:31] oh no that is despoiling the purity of Gardevoir. ._. [18:32:46] Gardevoir: Trap Pokemon. [18:34:11] Kardos, get your butt in the OOC chan. [18:34:20] http://serebii.net/pokedex-dp/282.shtml Not strictly true. [18:34:21] Thanks. ^^ [18:34:41] The male Gardevoir sprite is on top. The female one is on the bottom [18:34:55] I don't see a difference. [18:35:21] There is a difference. The male sprite is on the top, and the female one is on thte bottom. [18:35:26] ... [18:35:41] That's what they call 'missionary', Dem. [18:35:57] No Dem. [18:36:06] The male one is on the bottom and the female one is on the top. [18:36:45] Nuh uh. They're clearly labelled [18:36:56] They're mislabeled. Duh. [18:37:07] Start gaem? [18:41:18] [Date: Morning of August 16th. We find our intrepid heroes in Oriel, preparing to leave for the north city of Pelharl. Clarissa, being of sound mind, decided they should leave in the morning for whatever reasons, probably to cover as much ground as possible before dusk sets in.] [18:43:39] [After a night of doing what they wished to do in the populated and busy city (which included for some reading, drinking, or just watching) they're likely ready to get done with the exposition and get ready with the movement. The next leg of their journey will take them north up the winding and difficult roads along the coast, with a probable detour into the wild and untamed Molap forests, where it's rumored fey, wild elves...] [18:44:46] [and even some say dragons live. Presumably the timeless fey would be of some assistance to the group if the group proves to be of some assistance to them, or at least has something of equal value in trade.] [18:45:11] [Session Start!] [18:46:25] * Lucy looks over the weather, vaguely trying to guess what it'll be like. [18:48:24] [Lucy notices the sky is overcast, but really has no idea what the weather's going to be like later that day.] [18:49:29] Everybody ready? [18:49:47] * Lucy shrugs, figuring suprises are nice sometimes. "Yeah. Got everything I need, I think." [18:49:50] * Kardos nods, and considers the sky. [18:51:08] Hank? [18:51:51] * Hank looks over at Clarissa. "Always ready." He grins. [18:52:06] * Leo is there and ready to go, just being very quiet. Which... is probably for the best, honestly. [18:53:00] * Clarissa approves of this new, quiet Leo. [18:53:17] * Clarissa mounts up. "Let's go. The fairies might be there forever, but we won't." [18:54:09] * Kardos tilts his head. [18:54:33] Sure. [18:55:34] * Hank nods. [18:56:25] * Clarissa kicks Starbright into gear. [18:58:11] * Kardos follows along. [19:02:39] * CCD (CCDWork@adsl-64-149-214-6.dsl.stlsmo.sbcglobal.net) has joined #aeoth [19:02:47] * CCD is now known as Leo [19:04:42] * Leo yawns riding along slowly. [19:13:33] * Clarissa heads north! Three days of travel before we have to watch for interesting things! [19:14:31] * Leo follows the girl that knows what she's doing! [19:15:34] * Hank rides after Clarissa! [19:15:59] * Lucy rides after Clarissa, having not much better to do for three days! [19:16:06] [North people go! Along the path for three days, before they start into the forest. So far, fairly uneventful except for the weather, which changed from overcast to raining and back to overcast over the three days, although it's starting to get a little chilly after the rain. A very small amount of leaves are starting their change to light yellow that is to be seen more often in autumn.] [19:16:42] * Clarissa heads into the forest without hesitation. [19:17:18] * Kardos follows with something bordering on glee. [19:17:46] That there is beautiful. [19:18:28] Definitely... [19:18:32] * Lucy smiles. [19:18:38] [Without hesitation Clarissa and company head into the woods with no trail to guide them. But that's okay, Kardos is there, and he can get them out if needed! Note: Horses will not greatly increase your movement over land for long distances in the woods, given the lack of trail.] [19:19:12] * Leo is just glad horse ridding is less effort then walking. [19:19:20] Well, it's cover from the rain, at least. [19:19:34] * Clarissa is perfectly dry, mind, so it doesn't look as though the rain's been bothering her much. [19:21:08] [Difficult travel through the thick wooded lands is to be expected.] [19:22:04] * Hank throws back the hood of his cloak. "It's actually rather nice." [19:22:22] Definitely. It's nice and cool, but not super cold. [19:22:31] It makes it difficult to read. [19:22:42] * Kardos nods silently. [19:22:57] I had intended to do more reading than I have been. [19:23:40] I have no idea how you can read that much. [19:24:05] * Hank grins. "Too many words make me jumpy." [19:24:19] Kardos, is any one around here? [19:24:23] The only thing more precious than money is words. [19:25:16] * Khrosk takes his double-axe and yells. "Hiding coward show himself! Khrosk smash puny hider!" [19:25:18] There is someone to the south. I believe they are watching us. [19:25:34] * Hank looks back over his shoulder. [19:25:44] I do not know if they intend... [19:25:46] * Kardos sighs. [19:26:03] * There's rustling in some large undergrowth to the south. [19:26:10] (about 15 ft. away) [19:26:29] * Clarissa shrugs. "Invite them out, if you like. It should be relatively obvious when we find what we're looking for." [19:27:13] Never seen one before... I heard they're really nice to look at. Though talking can be a different matter. [19:27:47] * Clarissa keeps on keepin' on. [19:28:01] * The rustling continues for a few moments, then suddenly stops. [19:28:24] * Kardos calls out (rather quiet for a cry) "If the unnamed watcher to the south would kindly introduce themselves, we would count ourselves honored." [19:28:44] * The natural wildlife that can be heard in the forest is errily quiet. [19:28:48] * Leo feels rather uncomfortable talking talking to the bush like that. [19:29:33] * Lucy stays on high alert. [19:29:51] * Clarissa blinks. [19:29:53] ...that was fast. [19:30:39] [Just a FYI, the time is about afternoon. Although it's hard to tell with the clouds covering the sun.] [19:30:46] Should we get closer and take a look? Probably a mistkae, but I dunno what else to do. [19:31:04] No, best to keep going. Onward and inward! [19:31:12] * Clarissa gestures forward. [19:31:14] Very well. [19:31:18] * Clarissa follows her own instructions! [19:31:23] Arright [19:31:24] * Lucy moves on [19:31:56] If you insist, but it might be some one that could help us. [19:32:15] If they wanted to help, they wouldn't be in the bushes, would they? [19:33:01] Maybe they needed help? [19:33:53] It seems to be how things go. [19:34:29] If someone needs help, give it. If they offer help, ask the price, first. [19:34:51] * Lucy glances back at the bush [19:36:42] Lucy, either go look, or keep going. [19:36:56] Standing indecisively is definitely sub-optimal. [19:37:08] I wanna take a look. It could be important. [19:37:15] Then do so. [19:37:45] * Leo nods and heads that way not saying anything. [19:38:00] * Khrosk grunts. [19:38:05] * Lucy heads there with Leo. "Stand by for backup, I guess." [19:38:38] * Kardos frowns, but stays with Clarissa. [19:38:40] * Leo nods [19:41:15] [Casual inspection reveals that there are three glass orbs there. Each of them seem to 'contain' a destructive element. One fire, one ice, and one lightning. (cont)] [19:41:59] [Hank's investigation reveals that that's not the *only* thing there, but there is in fact an elaborate trap system in place as well, waiting for the next person to try and grab the orbs.] [19:42:22] Hm. Might not want to grab the orbs right off... [19:43:01] * Clarissa reins in Starbrite. [19:43:02] * Leo blinks looking at them. "I..see" [19:43:11] Yeah, I figured... is it safe to get up and leave, or will they go off if we step away? [19:46:31] Just don't touch the bush. [19:47:29] * Lucy nods. [19:47:49] Any idea what was with that rustling earlier? Are we safe if we walk away and throw a rock at it? [19:48:18] * Hank turns and Glares at Lucy. "Look, I don't yammer at you when you're doing your job, do I?" [19:49:11] Right. Sorry. [19:49:15] * Lucy back off, slowly. [19:53:01] * Hank reaches inside the bush and slowly detaches a small device. "... whew. Should be safe now. That was some nasty work." [19:53:42] * Clarissa nods. [19:53:46] Oh. You're awesome, Hank. [19:53:47] Hank, next time, ask Leo for help. [19:54:04] I had faith in his skills. [19:54:46] Leo, I wasn't asking you. [19:54:53] Hank, if you think you need help, ask. [19:54:55] [The orbs are free to be grabbed.] [19:55:20] Might have to, next time. This little thing's definitely not likely to show up in a noble's closet anytime soon. [19:55:20] By the way, don't touch the orbs. Grab them in handkerchiefs and pass them to me. [19:55:26] * Lucy looks around, just to be sure. [19:55:36] * Hank bounces the sensor on his palm a little. [19:55:54] I'll identify them when I have time. [19:56:10] Curious. [19:56:25] * Clarissa pulls out several large pink handkerchiefs, embroidered with her personal heraldry, and holds them out to Hank. [19:56:35] I don't really get it. Why would anyone even put this here, in the middle of the woods? [19:56:46] wonder why these were put here? [19:57:17] * Hank carefully wraps each orb in a handkerchief without touching it, and hands them to Clarissa. [19:57:36] * Clarissa takes the three orbs and takes a moment to peer at each one carefully, without touching it, before tucking it away. [19:58:59] I believe this means we are close to those we seek. [19:59:02] I was right about the no touching part, though. [19:59:09] These are definitely fey in origin. [19:59:11] * Lucy watches, totally fascinated. This is totally different from what she's seeing regularly. [19:59:12] We're close. [19:59:16] [Beneath the orbs is a piece of parchment with some scrawling on it.] [19:59:18] Ah, awesome. [19:59:20] Fortunate of us. [19:59:37] Glad we decided to take a look at that bush, then [19:59:45] * Leo slowly picks up the parchment looking at it. [19:59:59] Leo! [20:00:52] Hrm? [20:01:06] DOn't read that. Give it to Hank. [20:01:24] * Hank looks to Clarissa. "Any reason?" [20:01:42] * Leo does as told. [20:01:42] * Kardos raises an eyebrow. [20:01:43] How many destructive text-trap spells would you like me to enumerate for you? [20:01:55] * Kardos nods. [20:02:25] Man, you do think of everything. [20:02:34] Well, she's pretty bright after all [20:02:43] I didn't think they would do traps ontop of traps ontop of traps but I see I was wrong. [20:02:54] Preparedness is the hallmark of the properly trained mage. [20:02:55] So how do we tell if that's dangerous or not? [20:03:13] Knowing the many and various things that your enemies can do to kill you is definitely optimal. [20:09:18] Well, you were right anyhow. There's a trap at the end of the letter./ [20:09:49] Huh. Wow. [20:09:57] * Clarissa sighs. "Right." [20:09:57] * Leo (CCDWork@adsl-64-149-214-6.dsl.stlsmo.sbcglobal.net) Quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer) [20:09:59] So how do we make it go away? [20:10:00] * Leo (CCDWork@adsl-64-149-214-6.dsl.stlsmo.sbcglobal.net) has joined #aeoth [20:10:13] Magical? [20:10:32] (No, the trap is a mechanical trap. :D) [20:11:57] Is the text magical itself, or just the trap? [20:13:06] I think just the trap. [20:14:29] I don't currently have a dispel ready. Roll it up and I'll try to get rid of it in the morning. [20:14:40] Unless you think you can disarm it. [20:15:07] I could do it now. [20:15:46] You can? [20:15:47] Ah, good. By all means, try. [20:15:52] I won't be able to handle it, that's for sure. [20:15:56] * Hank hands the scroll to Leo. [20:16:04] * Lucy stands back a bit further. "Good luck!" [20:16:53] Yes I can. [20:17:05] * Leo sets the scroll down, says a little prayer and starts casting. [20:18:07] * CCDLaptop (CCDWork@adsl-64-149-214-6.dsl.stlsmo.sbcglobal.net) has joined #aeoth [20:18:07] * Leo (CCDWork@adsl-64-149-214-6.dsl.stlsmo.sbcglobal.net) Quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer) [20:18:22] * CCDLaptop is now known as Leo [20:19:54] * Leo smiles and picks it up when he's done casting. "Ah, I belive it has been disarmed." [20:20:12] Good work. [20:20:31] * Leo hands the scroll back off. [20:20:38] Don't know what we would have done without you. WHat's it say? [20:21:31] [The spell is in some strange language. It looks like it uses an elven script, but beyond that unless you can read sylvan, it makes no sense.] [20:21:46] [Or if you use some comprehend languages spell.] [20:21:54] * Lucy reads Sylvan, but doesn't see the paper right now, so... [20:22:22] * Clarissa takes a look. [20:23:52] * Clarissa sighs. "Okay, everybody take a look." [20:24:23] * Lucy takes a look. [20:28:11] * Hank looks! [20:29:49] * Kardos looks. [20:31:40] Oh, it's Sylvan. [20:31:52] It reads... [20:32:07] If you're reading this, you clearly aren't any slouch, and also want to find us. If you wish to dance among the court of the Seelie, you must be bold of body, mind, and spirit. Find the Elves of these woods and prove to them you are capable to travel in their realms. Then search for one of scales to discuss the nature of magic with. Finally, seek out the ghost of a child and give unto her a spark to send her to her final reward. [20:32:09] ...you read Sylvan? [20:32:11] Best of luck, and we'll be watching!" [20:32:20] Oh, yeah. [20:32:33] ...I need you to teach me. [20:32:41] Most people in Melloton know COmmon, Sylvan, and Elven. [20:32:50] * Lucy nods. "Sure, anytime. [20:33:03] Impressive. [20:33:36] ALright, so the first step is finding an elf. [20:34:15] Hey Khrosk! [20:34:30] Second sounds like a dragon unless we can get a tree frog to speak. [20:34:50] * Khrosk thumps over. "Yeah? Wimpy faerie-boy ran away." [20:34:51] A lot of Sylvan's kinda confusing, even after you get a workable literal translation. [20:35:05] * Lucy blinks. "Wait, you mean 'elf' by that, right?" [20:35:19] Wow. Those are some hefty entry requirements. [20:35:33] Well, we -are- trying to gain entrance to the royal court of the Seelie. [20:35:38] Yep. [20:35:40] ...please tell me you didn't attack an elf. [20:35:52] Khrosk, we need you to find us some elves in this forest. Think you can do that? [20:36:11] [Ten seconds after Lucy reads off the the parchment out loud, it vanishes in a puff of smoke.] [20:36:33] Oh, geez. ANyone have something to write with, while the translation's fresh in my mind? [20:36:55] * Khrosk grins *widely*. "Khrosk smash?" :D [20:36:55] I've got it in my head, Lucy. [20:37:14] Not unless I tell you to. [20:37:20] We just need to find them, for now. [20:37:30] * Khrosk pouts. "Oh fine." [20:37:46] You can have an extra ration of meat and a water stick tonight, though. [20:38:05] Khrosk like meat. :D [20:38:12] Good Khrosk! [20:38:22] Khrosk not pet! [20:38:42] No, Khrosk is much more dangerous than a pet. And much more useful. [20:38:48] Khrosk is more intelligent then a pet. [20:39:26] Righto. "YOU ARE good, Khrosk". How's that? [20:40:37] * Khrosk scratches his head as he starts looking for tracks. "Khrosk not seeing elf tracks." [20:41:02] Hm. How did you find that elf at first? [20:41:06] * Kardos dismounts and gets looking as well. [20:41:13] We'll find some eventually, I'm sure. [20:41:36] * Lucy stretches a bit, then gives the tops of the trees a good look-over just in case. [20:42:39] We'll probably need to head south a bit. [20:42:43] Mount up, and keep an eye out. [20:42:48] * Lucy nods. [20:43:41] * Leo nods and gets on to follow [20:44:10] * Hank hops onto his horse and follows along. [20:44:18] * Lucy moves on, occasionally checking the others to make sure fairy magic doesn't make them vanish [20:44:25] * Hank also slips on a pair of goggles. [20:51:31] * Kardos looks up and around. "I smell smoke." He glances around some more, and points. "That way." [20:52:12] * Khrosk blinks at a broken branch he spotted. "Elves nearby. Strong wild elves." [20:52:17] * Hank looks that way. "You've got a serious nose on you." [20:53:02] Wow. You'r egood. [20:53:26] Khrosk, Kardos. Lead the way to these elves. [20:54:33] * Kardos nods and leads the way. [20:55:03] * Khrosk lumbers, following the trail he noticed. [20:56:10] Khrosk? If the elves react poorly to your presence, please try not to kill any. [20:56:52] Khrosk smash elves that try to smash Khrosk. *nod* [20:58:39] * Leo blinks and shakes head. [20:59:29] * Kardos sighs and says a quiet prayer. [20:59:48] [The sun is starting to get low on the horizon. Mosquitos would be coming out to bite about now except it's starting to get too cold for them.] [21:00:01] [It'll likely be dark before you reach there.] [21:01:15] Hold up, Khrosk... [21:01:43] * Khrosk stops. "What Action Hank want?" [21:01:56] * Leo (CCDWork@adsl-64-149-214-6.dsl.stlsmo.sbcglobal.net) Quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer) [21:02:00] You're about to step on a net trap. [21:02:33] * Khrosk blinks and looks down, noticing the trap. "Oops?" [21:02:36] * Kardos stops as well. [21:02:39] * Lucy stops. [21:02:43] Good eye there. [21:03:03] * Kardos looks, then nods. "Excellent eyes, Hank." [21:03:24] * Clarissa nods. [21:03:53] * Leo (CCDWork@adsl-64-149-214-6.dsl.stlsmo.sbcglobal.net) has joined #aeoth [21:03:59] * Hank looks carefully around. "Looks like we can just go around it safely enough." [21:04:26] What's the basic gist of that trap? Step on it, get netted? [21:05:21] * Hank nods. "Simple net trap." [21:05:43] May be intended to catch food, rather than intruders. [21:05:57] Still, a damn nuisance to get out of. [21:06:18] (Out of the sky Kardos gets a note saying: 'No, it's for intruders. Really.'.. Okay, not really. But that WOULD be funny.) [21:07:02] Very much so. It's surprising what a crude net trap can hold. [21:08:12] What if the intruders ARE food? [21:08:21] (o/`) [21:08:22] * Hank starts heading around it. "Then it doesn't matter, does it?" [21:09:01] * Leo shrugs and follows Hank. [21:09:12] * Kardos frowns. "...there is a legend saying that wood elves never eat before a battle." [21:09:24] Oh dear. [21:09:26] * Lucy walks around it [21:09:39] * Kardos walks around the trap, too. [21:10:49] [Around the trap you go!] [21:13:19] * Hank is following the Kardos! [21:13:40] * Khrosk trudges around the trap and continues. [21:14:02] May I put forth the idea of camping hereabouts, on the edge of their territory, rather than within it, so that we do not appear to be attempting a raid of some sort? [21:14:26] Prudent. [21:14:31] It would likely be less of a problem if they found us rather than the other way around. [21:14:40] Khrosk, Kardos, would you find us a clearing, please? [21:14:54] * Khrosk swings his axe a few times. "Khrosk could make a clearing?" [21:14:59] * Kardos nods. "Happily." [21:15:13] * Kardos goes in search of the forest's bald spot! [21:15:16] Sorry, Khrosk. No cutting down trees. We should be good guests. [21:15:32] * Khrosk frowns again and starts searching for a bald spot of the woods. [21:18:57] [Kardos finds a nice spot by a small stream. The clearing is a good 40 ft. radius circle, bisected in the middle and extended a good 30 ft. Burned wildgrass and tree stumps can be seen, and although there is no obvious magical evidence, there's the possibility that the natives may use this as a possible 'dueling range' for the natives. [21:18:59] ] [21:19:55] * Kardos nods, and returns this information to the others. "It is not likely that they will conduct duels here if we are plainly present." [21:20:03] [Still, there's nobody there, and as you enter there seems to be some warding of natural protection in the area.] [21:20:28] Well... it's near water, so that's good. [21:20:38] I think it's a decent place to set up camp [21:21:21] Could be worse. [21:21:22] Looks good to me. Well protected, as well. [21:22:13] All in all, I don't think we could have asked for a better rest area in the middle of a large trap-filled wood. [21:22:34] * Kardos frowns and looks around again. [21:23:27] There have only been two traps. [21:23:37] This will definitely be a good place to sleep. Unless the spell is more selective than I think. [21:23:42] * Clarissa makes Starbrite comfortable for the rest of his time here. [21:24:09] * Leo settles down for the night [21:24:11] Lucy, I'd like my first lesson tonight, please.
