Session Start: Fri Jun 01 17:57:08 2007 Session Ident: #Aeoth [17:57:08] * Now talking in #Aeoth [17:57:08] * Topic is 'Website coming eventually. Keep your pants on. Srsly, keep them on. c.c Game canceled tonight.' [17:57:08] * Set by Zegon on Mon Apr 30 11:11:51 [18:46:19] * Kardos (YU-Mei@host-206-54-194-142.entouch.net) has joined #Aeoth [18:47:12] * NinjaDebugger is now known as Clarissa [18:48:22] * Hank (chamelaeon@ip68-229-191-99.om.om.cox.net) has joined #aeoth [18:49:04] ACTION HANK! [18:59:41] * Demota is now known as Lucy [19:11:14] [We come across our heroes after spending a few days, or was it a few weeks? in the Court of the Seelie. While there they likely saw many things, both wonderous and surprising about the fae way of life and how business is conducted there. Clarissa in particular learned quite a bit, given how she's seeking to be on more than just friendly terms with them. In addition, you were able to find a dragoncrafter to turn those dragon parts...] [19:14:18] [into usable pieces of equipment. She was a little disapponted you didn't have a heart, but given you had no way of preserving it over the week or so from when you killed the dragon there was little you could do. As you leave the court of the fae, escourted by your guide, you come into the world again in a summer breeze with the sun shining in the sky. Behind you the portal closes and the tree wall encloses it again.] [19:16:09] [The sun is shining, you have a few leads, and you've had a chance to re-supply while there.] [19:16:12] [Session start!] [19:20:51] * Lucy strestches a bit. [19:22:17] * Hank looks up at the sun. "So, where to now?" [19:22:37] The Daedra Coast, then to the nearest Order chapter as soon as we get there. [19:22:52] Either that, or to the north, to Eteru. [19:23:22] * Clarissa lets her pack down off her shoulders, reaches inside, and pulls out a bundle of green cloth. [19:23:41] * Clarissa unwraps it into a green cloak and swirls it around her shoulders. [19:24:00] I would prefer Eteru, but I may be the only one; I shall bow to the party's agreement. [19:24:03] The north has ruins, and ruins are usually optimal for gain of power, treasure, and knowledge. [19:24:18] * Clarissa reaches into her pack again, pulls out a sheathed rapier, and tosses it to Kardos. [19:24:24] ( s/Kardos/Hank ) [19:24:25] Either way is fine for me. I'm just out to explore. [19:24:42] * Hank catches the rapier. "Excellent." [19:24:50] That's dragonfang, by the way. [19:24:57] Don't touch the blade to anything you want to keep. [19:25:06] Oooh. Fancy-lookin'. [19:25:08] * Clarissa pulls out a glaive and tosses it to Kardos. "Just in case." [19:25:47] * Kardos catches it, twirls it experimentally, and nods. "My thanks." [19:26:09] * Clarissa pulls out a massive longbow and tosses it to Lucy. "In case you need some range." [19:26:18] Oh? Thanks [19:26:22] * Lucy looks over it [19:28:31] I also had a halfling greatsword made, and a pair of kukri, as an investment. [19:28:55] I'd love to have got you or Khrosk something, Lucy, but the fangs just weren't big enough. [19:30:04] Oh well [19:30:30] [A wind blows through the trees and you can hear birds chirping in the trees. [19:30:31] ] [19:31:03] As it happens, the Arcane Order is headquartered in Eteru. [19:31:14] So going north is almost certainly optimal. [19:31:16] Huh. Convenient [19:32:20] * Clarissa reaches into her pack one more time and pulls out a large bone staff, holds it out to one side, and lets it go. It just stands there while she closes her pack and shoulders it again. [19:32:31] How lucky. [19:32:34] All in favor of Eteru? [19:32:38] Say "Aye" [19:32:46] Aye. [19:33:21] * Lucy shrugs [19:33:38] * Clarissa looks at Hank. [19:34:46] Smashings ahead! Khrosk happy! :D [19:38:32] So what's Eteru like this time of year? [19:39:43] Cold. [19:39:58] It's the far north, Lucy. [19:40:05] It's pretty much -always- cold. [19:40:15] (err, oh, damn) [19:40:20] (I didn't say that in here. Honest) [19:41:42] Ick. Oh well. Fine by me. We ready to ehad out? [19:43:14] Let's go. [19:43:23] Back to civilization, get a map, and then we're on our way. [19:44:32] Right [19:47:55] We head generally north until we hit the river, and then we follow the river downstream to Perlarhl. [19:49:13] * Lucy nods [19:49:18] Luckily, it's difficult for us to miss the river. [19:53:05] I would hope so. [19:58:16] [You start heading north! As you head north, the weather grows increasingly cold incredably fast. In a matter of hours the summer breezes you were experiencing are replaced by cold gusts of wind. At the end of the day, it's snowing outside and the sun is nowhere to be seen through the cloud cover.] [19:58:28] (s/outside/) [19:58:43] ...uhoh. [19:58:49] HOpe everybody brought winter clothes. [19:59:02] Good thing I thought ahead. [19:59:46] [The snow hasn't settled on the ground yet, but it *certianly* makes things cold. The trees all lack trees except for the few evergreens interspersed throughout the woods.] [19:59:56] (err, the trees all lack leaves) [19:59:58] I brought... well, something warmer than usual. But not quite what I'd like here. I'll be alright, though [20:00:55] * Kardos trudges along. "I am fine." [20:02:35] Freezing to death is seriously sub-optimal, Kardos. [20:05:42] If it gets too cold, Leo and I will have to start covering everybody in magic. [20:07:21] * Khrosk puts on the smallest amount of cold weather gear he thinks he can get away with. "Khrosk getting cold." [20:09:03] Put more clothes on, Khrosk. I'm not using magic on you until you're freezing through a layer of fur. [20:09:30] * Khrosk pouts and puts on the rest of his outfit. [20:10:32] * Clarissa hasn't put any new clothes on at all, mind. Of course, her cloak is pretty obviously magical, since she turns it into a tent every night. [20:10:37] * Lucy is dressed as warm as she can [20:11:02] [The rest of the traveling proves to be difficult in the least, with heavy snow and rain coming down periodically. Travel is slow as a blanket of snow greeted you the next day and doesn't seem to let up to your destination. Eventually you come across a river that's still managing to flow even in the frozen forest: this must be the river Clarissa spoke of.] [20:11:22] Oh, wow. Pretty [20:11:27] [Sigel is staying VERY close to Clarissa as he doesn't have cold weather clothing. If he can he's letting her carry him.] [20:11:46] * Clarissa absolutely carries the poor li'l puppy. [20:12:36] [The forest is breathtakingly beautiful with ice-sicles, frost, and snow lining the trees. The general woods are quiet though, and wildlife rare to come by durring these hard times.] [20:13:20] Poor Sigel. [20:13:49] * Khrosk grumbles as he trudges through the winterland. [20:15:30] I don't see what's got you all in a huff, Khrosk. It's pretty out here. [20:16:23] Khrosk no like cold toes. [20:17:22] Hah. [20:20:12] [The temperature is definetly below freezing at this point. The flowing water is not frozen probably because it *is* moving and that's it.] [20:21:04] Luckily, this is the easy part. Too bad we don't have a boat. [20:21:12] * Clarissa heads downstream. [20:21:41] * Lucy moves. Quickly. [20:22:36] * Kardos moves along. [20:30:06] [About four more days following the stream you emerge from the forest onto a frozen tundra which the river goes along and, in the distance, you can make out a small town where the river ends. Even from here you can also smell the salt from the sea as the ocean is presumably nearby.] [20:32:48] :D [20:32:50] A place! [20:35:10] Two places, sort of. [20:36:25] * Clarissa heads for the straits. [20:37:49] * Lucy moves [20:39:18] I just want to get into town, find out when it is, find an inn, get a bath, and go to sleep for a week. Or two. [20:39:34] [Along the river you go! The river likely has a name, but as you don't have a map with such a name, you can't fathom a good guess at it. As you approach you find a single solitary road going to the east along the coastline from the town. You also find that there is a loud roar from the water diving down a large waterfall cliff-face. This is indicative of the huge coastline you can make out that is literally...] [20:40:11] [hundereds of feet high and rock-faced. This is the likely reason this village isn't any bigger than just that.] [20:40:51] Wow. Pretty place. Probably not hte most comfortable to live in, but pretty [20:42:13] [The town has little in the way of guard patrols to greet you, but probably has a small garrison of guardsmen inside somewhere.] [20:42:39] Good place for flying. [20:42:47] * Clarissa heads into town at speed. [20:43:10] Mmm. [20:43:32] [A sign in common, elven, and gnomish is off to the side. "Welcome to Perlharl, Jewel of the Belso.] [20:43:40] (") [20:44:05] [Clearly, the founders of the town didn't think their cleaver plan all the way through.] [20:45:34] * Lucy moves in, admiring it in its own unique sort of way [20:46:18] * Clarissa watches for an inn as she walks into town. [20:46:21] [The town is simple, if sparse. It seems much like a ghost town right now: If you want to find someone, you will likely have to see someone who's still in business.] [20:47:14] * Kardos frowns. "It seems the locals do not like cold toes any more than our friend Khrosk." [20:49:16] [A 'bit into town, you can see how the town has evolved from a small fishing location to an actual trade location. A complex series of pullies, lifts, and even short-range activatable teleportation areas line the path up from the sea-line along with storehouses, houses, and other businesses. Better not break your leg here, navigating all those stairs with crutches would be a real PITA.] [20:50:00] [You have little trouble locating an inn nearby. You can see a glimmering light inside indicating it as open.] [20:50:19] [The sign marking its name is currently covered in snow.] [20:50:39] * Lucy steps in. Her opinion seems to have lifted considerably [20:50:40] [At least, you THINK its an inn.] [20:50:47] * Clarissa gives the sign a good whack to clean the snow off. [20:51:51] [The snow on the sign falls down onto and around Clarissa. The name of the inn, Wolfgar's Watering Hole, is now plainly visible.] [20:52:11] Good. It -is- an inn. Well, probably. [20:52:22] * Clarissa opens up the door and walks in. [20:52:33] * Lucy smiles [20:54:26] * Hank follows. "Long as it has a fire, it counts." [20:54:29] * Kardos walks in and examines the establishment. [20:55:02] [Inside it's still cold, but not AS cold. Even so, it's warm enough that you can take off your outer layer of cold weather outfits (about 50 or so degrees). A fire is lit inside of the inn that's devoid of people except the caretaker.] [20:56:52] * Lucy looks around the inside. :D [20:57:18] [The walls are covered in trophies of weapons, beast parts, armor, and other exploits of a warrior. The man behind the counter, a heavy orc who seems very accustomed to the cold weather and dressed in furs looks at you as you enter the room.] [20:57:50] * Kardos has a seat by the fire, cracks a book, and reads. [20:58:15] * Clarissa marches up to the counter and hops up onto a stool. [20:58:39] * Hank takes a seat by the fire, rubbing his hands together. [20:58:42] [The orc is missing one eye which seems to be gouged out, and his lower fangs are tipped in gold. Scars adorn his face marking him as an impressive individual. "What do you want?"] [20:59:34] How many rooms do you have? [21:00:21] * Khrosk marches in after Clarissa and sits down, shouting out an order in Orcish, which the orc prompty replies with a scary swill of various beverages mixed together. It looks like if you stuck a wooden spoon into the drink, all that went in would be eaten away. [21:00:41] Six. No travelers this time of year. [21:02:13] Good. I'll give you five copper per night, each, if you provide meals. [21:03:53] * The orc grumbles. "Five silver per head per night. No more, no less." [21:04:30] Four. We're taking every room you've got. [21:04:47] You don't exactly have customers beating down your doors. [21:06:39] Five. Only inn in the town open right now. [21:07:15] * Clarissa rolls her eyes. [21:07:16] Fine. [21:07:33] * Clarissa slaps down three gold. [21:07:39] I'm going to bed, people. [21:08:19] Sleep well, alright? [21:08:31] * The orc takes the money and pockets it, letting Clarissa do her thing. [21:09:06] * Clarissa heads off to sleep for about three days. [21:09:46] * Lucy heads to room [21:12:05] * Clarissa calls back out as she leaves, "Oh, and somebody find out the date!" [21:12:27] January 7th. [21:12:51] ... [21:12:55] WE LOST SIX MONTHS? [21:13:05] We lost six months. [21:13:52] * Clarissa frowns. "It's twelve twenty two, right? We didn't lose a year and a half, did we?" [21:14:13] Twelve twenty two. [21:14:22] * Clarissa sighs in relief. [21:14:40] * Clarissa goes into the nearest room, slams the door behind her, and sleeps the sleep of the dead. [21:14:41] * Kardos seems unsurprised. [21:14:59] * The orc and Khrosk start talking to eachother in grunts. [21:15:51] * Lucy hopes they get along well [21:16:42] * Kardos goes to the bar to get some food, passes on the swill, and goes back to the fire to continue reading. [21:17:35] * Lucy gets food, drinks, and goes to lie down and stare at things for a while [21:18:41] [Session End!] [21:19:06] * Clarissa is now known as SleepDebugger [21:20:36] * Lucy is now known as Demota [21:21:45] * Kardos (YU-Mei@host-206-54-194-142.entouch.net) Quit (Quit: Zugzug.) [21:23:04] * Zegon (zegond@c-24-15-245-98.hsd1.il.comcast.net) has left #Aeoth Session Close: Fri Jun 01 21:29:29 2007
