The way still twists and turns through barely maintained streets or insides of buildings that have miraculously remained uncollapsed.] [18:39:38] [They continue down the tunnel until it splits off sharply through a battered doorway to the south, and continues on to the east.] [18:41:27] [As for Aun, she trudges along, trying to catch up to a rapidly fadding noise, feeling along the jagged wall, getting scrapes and cuts for her effort. Up ahead, though, she spots a glimmer of light that approaches.] [18:42:04] [Session Start] [18:42:43] * Aun draws her sword and proceeds, feeling against the wall with her offhand. [18:44:15] [Through the battered doorway she sees a thug holding a giant hammer. The crushed remains of an altar give silent testimony to Fallen's original name of Godsgate.] [19:13:20] * Aurora shivers. [19:14:10] [They move through the building and back onto the debris-strew cobblestone streets of the tower. Eventually Mari's torchlight starts glinting off the walls. Upon closer inspection, glass-like blue crystal shards are aparent in the debris.] [19:15:22] ... huh. [19:15:24] * Aurora takes a few. [19:16:20] Can anyone check if those are magic? [19:16:44] I'm not entirely comfortable with the idea of taking mysterious objects from here if it's the source of the ravers. [19:16:58] "Sure, lemme give it a look." The crystal shards become more present in the debris... until you start running into giant chunks of them. Eventually a broken and shattered crystal wall fills the end of the tunnel, with a cleared out entrance into the crystal structure.] [19:27:15] (see gametable) [19:28:17] ... wow. Nice. [19:30:24] [As the group moves further, the light from Mari's torch starts refracting through the walls, illuminating the wide room on the other side of the cleared out crystal chunks.] [19:31:10] * Aun whistles. [19:32:12] [As you enter, you realize the room is the bottom landing on an extremely wide staircase, but the stairs going up to your left are shattered and broken, caved in on themselves.] [19:32:41] [Large marble double-doors lay strewn on the ground, shattered off their hinges, most likely by the impact of the fall.] [19:33:24] ... hm. Down the way, he spies another black marble door, that looks to be off it's hinge.] [20:05:55] * Marianysa continues to stare at the wall, sighing a bit. With any impact it'd likely hit its head on the wall as well, just for insult to injury [20:17:47] [The monster throws up his forearm, catching Sev's maul in the bar, just below the head and blocking his attack. His laughs low and deep, then says something incomprehensible and foul.] [20:17:54] [Mari's Turn] [20:22:40] * Marianysa rushes into battle, stabbing the creature as it blocks Sev's strike. [20:22:57] [Mari's blade bends as she thrusts it against the thing's chest and looks as if it's about to just spring off it and rebound... until it punctures.] [20:23:44] [Phanos's Turn] [20:24:34] What the hell? [20:25:01] * Phanos moves steadily, along with his cadre of zombies, down the hallway, stopping to allow them to catch up, as he does so casting a spell, the miniature thundercloud he conjures up hopefully being a bit more effective this time than it was the last time around. [20:27:40] * NovaSeaker changes topic to 'Init Order: Sev, Mari, Phanos, Thing, Aun, Aurora' [20:28:18] [The monster roars a long howl, like a wolf, at the thunder bolt and lashes out at Sev in fury, clawing and biting at him.] [20:29:49] * Sev is clawed and bit, roaring right back at the creature. [20:46:10] * Phanos directs his zombies to surround the wolf, preventing its escape. One takes a swing after the others move around behind it. Phanos begins to chant a dark-sounding spell, nightmares whirling before his eyes. He closes a fist, and the nightmares flit over the surface of the creature's eyelids instead. [20:59:54] [The barghest stares at Aun, trembling slightly while trying not to show it's fear at the nightmares it was subjected to... and then starts laughing. [21:40:39] [As sev walks down, he can barely make out a doorframe in the adamantine wall, in the farthest reaches of his vision.] [21:40:41] Right. It was just kinda creepy. [21:41:22] ... Ten feet by Ten feet, with no hinges in sight, the solid-granit door is split down the middle and sports a detailed engraving of a gorgon head.] [21:45:39] Maybe we can make a trophy out of it [21:45:46] Though that'd be kinda icky [21:46:19] * Marianysa turns and looks at Aurora with a horrified expression. [21:59:44] [A few paces from the door, a corpse lays atop one another, a fine blade plunged into the chest of the one on bottom.] [22:00:04] * Marianysa pales. [22:00:10] * Sev approaches those two, grabbing the top one and shoving it off as he holds his nose. [22:00:27] [The attacker appears to be clothed for stealth, and the fine aundarian lightblade glimmers in the red light, deep in the chest of a.. very peculiar corpse.] [22:00:58] * Aurora looks aorund the room, trying to figure out what happened here [22:01:10] * Sev meanwhile pulls the sword out of the body. [22:01:13] Hmh.. [22:01:19] [The stabbed corpse appears for the most part human, and in incredibly elegant antiquated brelish clothing... but its mouth is lined with razor teeth and it's claws are... backward.] [22:01:52] ... what the... [22:02:03] ...Oh, wow. There must have been some kind of raid. Presumably, right before the Crystalfall, or else it would have been cleaned up. [22:02:07] * Marianysa slowly follows Sev, gagging. She stops and stares at the corpse. [22:02:19] [On the other side of the red pillar, another similarly nonhuman corpse is impaled by several arrows. It's pinned to the crystal by them, held upright.] [22:03:02] [In the corner, is the archer... with the bow still in his hands.] [22:03:36] So... a fight broke out here, for some weird reason, then Crystalfall happened, and then everyone just died. [22:04:05] Or the fight was related to Crystalfall. [22:04:09] Right. [22:04:20] Arrows hit the red crystal orb over there, and... ... hm. [22:04:33] * Aurora examines the nonhuman with backwards claws [22:04:46] We need to find out what this room was. If it was some kind of engine keeping the tower up, then it could have been the target of the raid. [22:04:47] [Next to him is another pair of bodies. A changeling corpse lays partially over another backward-handed humanoid, and both show multiple wounds. The changeling is wearing goggles, partially dislodged from its face, and very elegant choker.] [22:05:33] Anybody see anything worth taking? These guys won't be needing it. [22:05:48] * Marianysa examines the lightblade. [22:05:55] Well take 'em anyway. [22:06:05] * Sev hands the sword over to Marianysa, moving to the back. [22:07:49] * Marianysa mutters "I feel morbid enough about taking this..." as she looks at the sword, comparing it to hers. [22:07:51] [As Sev approaches the arm, he sees its actually attached to part of a torso. There's an emblem on the lapel.] [22:07:55] * Phanos casts detect magic, looking among the items. It's a King's Dark Lantern badge.] [22:14:53] This maul's been as it is for a while. This part must've got left here. [22:15:34] * Marianysa goes back to looking at the sword she picked up. [22:15:37] [Aurora goes to inspect the bow that impaled the creature to the crystal shaft... and realizes that it's in the hands of a Silver Flame cleric.] [22:15:51] Yeah, but why would someone be carrying an isolated crest around?
