[21:18:15] Okay, attention Paranoia guys. This is the character sheet: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/pdf/paracharsheet.pdf?PHPSES SID=9b87ffe5914aec34ce5ad96fb8428b52 [21:18:34] Record down whatever I told you in /msg earlier. [21:19:03] Then distribute skills. There are two kinds of skills: Action, and Knowledge. [21:19:19] Action skills include Management, Stealth, and Violence. KNowledge skills are Hardware, SOftware, and Wetware. [21:20:41] Each skill starts off at 0. You get 40 points to distribute among them. You have to allocate at least 4 points to each skill, but you can't put more than 10 in each skill. [21:25:57] There are 6 skills. There are specialties listed underneath them. [21:29:56] When you need to do something in Paranoia, you usually just roll a d20. If you roll under the skill, or specialty if applicable, you succeed at the task. [21:34:05] You can assign up to three in a single skill if you want. However, when you pick a specialty, like I mentioned earlier, you need to pick a weakness. That weakness means one of the specialty categories is rated at 1. [21:36:55] Service firm specialties... these, like I mentioned earlier, you get for free, without inflicitng a weakness. [21:37:15] Armed Forces can choose from Demolition, ENergy Weapons, Hand Weapons, Projectile Weapons, Thrown weapons, unarmed combat, and Vehicle Ops and Maintainence [21:38:02] Central Processing picks from Security Systems, electronic engineering, bot programming, data analysis, financial software, data search, and vehicle programming [21:38:22] HPD&MC picks from BOotlicking, Chutzpah, Con Games, MOxie, Bot OPs and Maintainence, Pharmatherapy, and Meidcal [21:38:48] Internal Security picks from Interrogation, INitimidation, Security Systems, Surveillance, energy weapons, ahnd weapons, and unarmed combat [21:39:11] PLC picks from Chutzpah, Con Games, Bot Ops and Maintainence, Habitat ENgineering, Vehicles OPs and Maintainence, Data Search,a nd Biosciences [21:39:56] That would be a Narrow Specialty. Which I will describe later. [21:40:18] POwer Services picks from Data Analysis, Data Search, Chem Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Habitat engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and nuclear engineering [21:40:39] R&D picks from Chemical engineering, emchanical engineering, nuclear engineering, bot programming, vehicle programming, bioweapons, and cloning [21:41:00] Tech services picks from Chemical Engineering, electronic engineering, habitat engineering, vehicle ops and maintainence, bot programming, vehicle programming, and pharmatherapy [21:44:11] Next up are Narrow Specialties. These are specialties you get to make up yourself, and are rated at +6 instead of +4. You can select up to 6 of them, one in each skill, but you don't have to pick them now. In fact, you could pick one right in the middle of a game session. [21:44:55] A narrow specialty affects a specific target/small group ,a specific piece of equipment, or a very specific situation. [21:45:50] * Ardweden (ardweden@herring.sandwich.net) Quit (Ping timeout) [21:45:54] Examples of narrow specialties are things like "Get out of the room second to last", or "Distract others long enough to start running" [21:46:29] Or "Yell EVEN LOUDER" [21:48:21] OKay, next up. Perversity/Tics. The game has something called Perversity Points. Perversity Points can be spent on a 1:1 basis to put a modifier on a roll. This does not have to be your own roll. This does not have to be a positive modifer. [21:48:54] You can earn perversity points by being entertaining [21:49:27] Selecting tics can also get you extra perversity points. [21:50:00] A tic is an obvious and recognizable behavior or condition that seldom, if ever directly affects the game. [21:50:29] You can select two of them. Each one gets you five more perversity points. [21:51:38] Some examples are "Absentmindedly gnaws on things he's holding", "Mistakes bots for people and vice versa", and "Will bet a credit on the outcome of just about anything" [21:53:25] You also get two Attributes, called POwer and Access. You are not allowed to know your POwer and access, but you are alllowed to know that Power measures the strength of a mutant power, and access describers how smoothly you can get thigns done in the Alpha Complex bureaucracy. The ability to pull strings and get favors, and what forms need to be submitted to what departments [21:54:17] These points may be drained and replenished as time goes on. Asking for numbers is not encouraged. [21:54:54] Oh, and names work this way: [21:55:03] Name-Clearance-Sector-Clone number. [21:55:10] A Name is just that. A personal name. [21:55:18] Your clearance is RED, so it's abbreviated to R. [21:55:35] * Calculus gets Calc-U-LUS-1. [21:55:35] A sector is where you come from. JUst three letters put together. [21:55:48] And lastly, clone number. You start out as Clone number 1, or the Prime. [21:57:19] You have assigned equipment. These are a laser pistol body, minus barrel. Laser pistol barrels just screw/snap on, and are good for six shots. Though you can squeeze a few more out of them with a little risk. [21:57:35] You get one suit of RED reflec armor. This protects you from laser wounds. [21:57:39] Nobody likes laser wounds. [21:57:54] Laslty, you get a Series 1300 Personal Digital Companion. [21:58:00] It's a cell phone! It's a laptop! It's a camera! [21:58:08] And, with its self-destruct function, it's a grenade. [21:59:38] You also have a mercantile Express card. The ME card looks like a credit card, but it's got your biometric data, credit history, property inventory, authentication codes, etc. [22:04:02] A word on perversity point spending. These are the only modifiers in the game. You don't get -4 to hit because the guy is hiding behind cover. The guy is behind cover because someone spent perversity to give you a -4 modifier. Rowyn, Rutt, Jex, maybe Jesse, and an RL friend. Grysar, IsawaChuckle, Rutt, Jex, Pocky interested tomorrow
