Session Start: Tue Jan 29 19:38:36 2008 Session Ident: #TD&DG * Logging for #TD&DG started [A single run-in with a small boy who had been a thief in a previous encounter left the party 3 silver daggers (one magical!) and 3 bottles of silversheen richer. The sun dawned clear and bright, lending a pleasant dappling shade to the light forest. While Althea and Eve study their spellbooks over breakfast, Wurr examines his maps, and the others break camp or perform morning ablutions.] [Start!] Hm... so how do you us ethis Silversheen stuff? Like potion for your blades. How long's it last? * Ierikc yawns. "A good while. Enough for one fight, at least." * Althea flips a page in her spellbook. "I don't know. Weapons never were my strong point." Long enough. * Stella stands, stretches, and stretches more, this time in an pre-exercise sort of way. Do we know where this kobold camp is? Got directions. It's not too far. So how do you wanna divide up the gear? That magic silver dagger looks pretty nice... Looks like the others to me. So where'd you get them? I need one if not two of those bottles. * Ierikc takes the dagger and examines it closely. "No, no. It's magical all right. Or at least expertly crafted. And here..." He traces two etches as well as a symbol at the base of the dagger. "This shows that it's been enchanted by someone." I do not wish for such things. If someone would be so kind as to loan me a bottle of silversheen or a dagger, however, I'd be very grateful. * Ierikc takes one of the normal daggers and hands it to Stella. "Here you go." The daggers and siliversheen are a gift from a particular youth we met earlier. ....the backpack stealing bastard? * Bert flips a small dagger - not one of the new ones - in one hand, and then shoves it back into a sheath at his hip. "Don't look at me; I didn't do it," he says. "Sooner we get out there, sooner we stop the bandits, right?" Woah, wait. Him? * Ierikc takes three of the bottles of silversheen and hands them to Wurr. He grins. "Nice guess." I missed him again? It's like I'm always going to be asleep when he shows up. * Wurr let a small snarl, looking VERY angry. * There are only 3 bottles of silversheen. Where'd he get this from? We need to pay for this stuff... but after. * Stella nods. * Wurr very -very- gently holds them for a second before storing them. * Ierikc takes the +1 silver dagger and hands it to Lidya. "I don't know. He said it was to aid us in our quest. I'd doubt there's much concern about their return." And take good care of this, would you? * Lidya takes the dagger. * Althea flips another page while she's sitting cross-legged on the ground. "I've never been interested in the simple arts of poking people with sharp things." SIMPLE? Hey, it's very fine work. Like surgery. Except every procedure ends in -ectomy. Stabectomy isn't a word. ( Yet. ) * Lidya tilts the dagger around. "You know, it's a littel big for me" Anyone else want it? I guess I'll take a bottle of the silversheen. Though... hm. * Lidya balances it in her hand a little more Nah. I don't need this. Though... * Wurr hands Lidya one of his bottles. * Ierikc takes the last dagger and hmmms, then straps it into his belt to make a makeshift sheath. * When Lidya takes the magic dagger, it shrinks down to fit her hand. Oh, hey. never midn, then. That was neat. * Althea shuts her spellbook and hops to her feet. "Well, I'm ready to go now whenever you are." * Lidya marvels at teh now smaller dagger Just one more minute, please! *hastilly studies one more spell before snapping her little travelling spellbook closed* Fine. In the fight I'll do the hard work and you just point and fry. Okay little lady? * Stella smiles. "If we're ready, Lady East, then shall we go?" * Ierikc takes a deep breath and mutters a short prayer in Draconic. "Let's be off." * Wurr nods roughly looking ready for a fight. Right Lady? You flatter me. But let us be off, to halt the devilish devices of the kobold criminals. ...er, what she said. So, since we have directions, how much further are we looking to go? Hm... I could scout ahead if you guys want An hour or Three. Depends on how fast the weak little simplistic mage walks. Perhaps I should carry her so her poor little legs don't have to do actual work. I'm pretty sure that the mage's horse can outpace the orc. * Ierikc starts walking according to the directions. "If either of you would care to walk more and bicker less, I feel we'd all be better off." I think he's talking about the other mage, Miss Althea. *walks along energetically* * Wurr grunts in distress. "I got two of them, but only one of them is too simplistic to hold a weapon. Oh woes is me, I've had a life where I didn't get hit with sharp pointy things. I got taught to read and write without effort. Oh dear me I got a paper cut. Oh no my life is hell." * Lidya picks up her pace and starts trying to find a nice approach Now now, Wurr. There is no call for such sharp words so early in the morning. * Althea shrugs as she rides on her horse. "Let's hope his swords are sharper than his words." Yes, save them for when there's something to really care about. You know, I'm glad it's a nice day today. * Lidya returns. "Found it." Did you find any traps? Does it look like they're expecting us? Of course there are traps. It's what these things DO. Oh, lots of traps. Dunno if they're expecting us. I didn't think to bring a gift. Well, well. That's okay, we can make you a cake. [A bit of a walk later, the group finds the clearing amidst four large trees that marks the locale. Ierikc manages to spot, just as they're waking up, the four kobold guards lounging up in the trees. Apparently, Althea's rendition of "Pop Goes the Vixen" alerted the slumbering nocturnal bandits to the presence of intruders.] * Lidya gets her sling out just in case... * Lidya has a very nice sling. * Wurr has scimitars. YAY! Sharp pointy things that take skill not like that evil point and click brainless magic. * Stella is as armed as she ever is. * Ierikc isn't dangerous. :( * Althea is riding on a horse that is probably more dangerous than she is. * Wurr jumps up on a branch and takes a swing. As he swings though there's a loud CRACK and down he tumbles missing the baddie and landing hard on his ass. * Stella takes out a loop of cloth, loads in a roundish rock, and fails to hit a kobold with it! And here we see why monks are such feared combatants. * Althea rides up into position before throwing a dagger at the poor sap, I mean, kobold. The dagger flies through the air and hits the kobold solidly in the arm. "Ha ha! I hit!" * Lidya loads her sling with a bullet and hurls it at the nearest kobold * Ierikc loads his crossbow and fires at one of the kobolds, the bolt landing solidly in one of the trees. * Bert copies Lidya's move, including the lovely missing. * Actually, Lidya hit. Bert's miss is entirely his own fault. Perhaps the kid shouldn't have aimed at the kobold Lidya just dropped from the tree with a "thud". * Lidya aims true. The rock smacks a kobold solidly, knocking it out of the tree. * Wurr jumps up and lands on a branch, one that doesn't crack under his weight, and then very nicely slices through the poor creatures gut. * Lidya prepares another sling bullet and hurls it at another kobold. The scene from before repeats itself. * Bert rushes over and starts tying up the still-alive kobolds. By the time he's done, the two who were bleeding have bled to death, unless the others wish to try to save them. * Althea hops off her horse and ties it to a tree. It can't really go down into the lair. She then walks over and withdraws her dagger from the fallen kobold, gently wiping it off on the kobold before putting it away again. * Lidya goes to try to help out as best she can. More captives. * Stella tosses another bullet a different kobold; this time it connects knocking him from his perch! * Wurr grunts. "Stupid trees should grow stronger." Not all trees grow up nice and strong. * Althea finishes putting the dagger away and turns towards the others. "So, into the cobra's lair?" * Eve East nods, pulling up her hood. "Let's bring justice to these bandits." let me get ready for going in. * Stella puts away her sling and stands poised at the entrance. * Ierikc quickly stabilizes the kobolds, ties them up, then nods to the rest assuming someone makes sure the kobolds are secured. "Let's." * Ierikc also takes the loot. Can't forget that. * Wurr puts the silver on his blades, both of them, and grins ready to kill. I'd rather pick the loot up on the way out after everything has been dealt with. * Bert nods. Eve looms ominously. Bruce stands on Eve's head, wings spread to cast a spooooooky shadow. * Lidya puts her sling away and unsheathes her short sword. She applies silver to the blade. All your weapons are so shiny now. * Stella smiles cheerfully. * Lidya doens't do that, actually * Lidya just takes out her silver dagger they will be bloody soon [Once the entrance is opened, the tunnel leads sharply down into darkness, stopping at a wooden door. Presumably, the rest of the kobolds' lair lies beyond this.] I lead. * Wurr heads for the tunnel. Very well! Feel free to lead. Probably smells funny down there. Steath or strike? Let the scout figure that out. There's only one entrance. I doubt stealth is an option. * Wurr grunts and sighs moving over so the scout CAN figure it out. Strike for now We're in their home turn. They're all probably waiting to activate some kind of trap Strike! MOVE OUT OF THE WAY! * Althea sighs. * Ierikc rolls his eyes. "Okay, okay. How about we open the door and kill what's on the other side then, hmm? " * Stella smiles. "That would make things simpler." * Althea taps her foot semi-impatiently. "Shall I open the door? Or would one of you like to do the honors instead of standing around?" [When Stella opens the door, the room beyond is revealed to be dimly lit by torches, just enough for those with darkvision to get a hint of color, and those with low-light vision to see. Those without either...it's enough not to trip and fall, at least. The chamber itself is dug out of the soft earth, with roots and mud forming the walls, floor, and ceiling. It's a 25 ft. on a side square room, with hallways leading off to the right and left.] [Figures scurry out through the left hall, leaving only two actually present in this main chamber. In the center of the chamber is a glistening pool of fluid barely four feet in diameter, and something glitters and shines behind one kobold in the northeast corner. Ierikc's greedsense tingles at that glimmer.] * Althea whispers "It's dark." * Ierikc whispers back. "I can see just fine, I don't see what your problem is." "If you can see fine, then you can see my problem, can't you?" * Wurr whispers at them both. "shut up or we will all be dinner." * Lidya moves up forward thorugh the door * Stella dashes into the room, past an unprepared kobold, and takes up a fighting stance. * Ierikc runs in and takes aim. He fires, but his shot goes wild. * Althea chants a spell from the safety of the outside before heading down into the cave a little. * Stella runs up to one of the kobolds, swinging her mighty foot! But instead of the kobold, she instead kicks a pile of money, proving that wealth is the bane of the asthetic. Hey, watch it! * The kobold guarding the wealth seems as offended as Ierikc, and jabs at Stella with his shortspear! Sadly, the monkly girl is much too dexterous to receive her just punishment for so heinous a crime against money. * Wurr rushes forward and swings, the gods of the world must not want these lizards dead though because he isses like so many others. * Wurr and Lidya's friend tries to attack one of them, but, given that he pokes empty air between the two, it seems he couldn't decide which. * Lidya slips past the enemy kobold, managing to dodge an attack. She takes a swing with her dagger, but msises * Ierikc slings his crossbow and takes out a mining pick. He runs in behind Lidya and tries to smack the kobold, but misses in spectacular fashion. * Meanwhile, a crossbow bolt flies within the vagues viscinity of Stella's person, coming from the right-hand corridor. Crossbowmen! * Stella takes another swing at the guard kobold! * Althea runs in since they can't seem to finish off to kobolds like she originally thought. Her dagger misses the kobold, like one would expect from a wizard. * Stella's kobold steps around her a bit, jabbing with his spear more to keep her on guard than anything else. Which is good, since, well, he doesn't hurt her. * Wurr , much like a famous baseball player, swings and a miss. Again. * The surrounded kobold decides he doesn't like being that close to a large and angry blue orc, and steps back a bit, taking a stab at Lidya, who seems more his size. The problem, of course, being that somebody more his size is also harder to hit, so he, too, misses. This would be funny if it weren't so sad. * Suddenly, a brilliant light source comes flying down the corridor, hanging itself with a squeak on the ceiling at the center of the room. The kobolds wince, shielding their eyes from the sudden light, as the room is now brightly lit. * Lidya strikes out with her dagger at the kobold next to her * Lidya nicks him a bit * Althea covers her eyes briefly with her left hand since her eyes were just beginning to get used to the low light. * Ierikc walks forward, glad of his spectacles, and swings at his opponent. He misses, however. * Stella swings! * Stella cheerfully clobbers a kobold! And STAY DOWN. * Stella says, in her usual sweet tone, "I'm sure he'll take it under consideration, friend Ierikc." * Wurr swings his blades and they actaully hit flesh, this surprising turn of events actually drops the poor thing. * Another crossbow bolt whizzes past Stella. She actually had to try in order to dodge that one. Well, that was invigorating. * Ierikc hmmms and looks at the loot. Can we wait till we're not being attacked? [There is roughly 2000 silver pieces lying in that corner, as well as two large, presumably locked chests.] * Another crossbow bolt misses Stella. And Wurr. [To be continued.] [End session.] Session Close: Tue Jan 29 22:25:03 2008
