Start of #TD&DG buffer: Tue Mar 04 20:17:20 2008 [17:46:07] [After a couple of days, the heroes have settled into a routine. Althea's been scribing some scrolls, Wurr and Stella have been touring the town and countryside, mapping and helping out the peasantfolk, Lidya and Ierikc have been doing research and trying to figure out where to look for a cure for Lycanthropy.] [17:46:55] [It's about noon when Stella and Wurr return to town, looking for the others. It seems they've found something...] [17:47:08] * CCD is now known as Wurr [17:47:14] * Cyn is now known as Althea [17:47:24] [Scene: The Muddlefoots' inn common room. | Cast: The party, a few halfling bar workers. | Start!] [17:47:48] * Stella walks in, beaming her usual smile. [17:48:13] * Althea has her spellbook open on the table she's sitting at. She's staring intently at one of the pages while waiting for her lunch to show up. [17:48:45] GOBLINS! Squishy, scaredy goblins! Grunt and they fetch you beer... usually piss in it but... [17:48:46] * Lidya relaxes and enjoys a meal. Or snack. She's trying to enjoy herself, with a decent amount of success. Om nom nom. [17:49:53] * Althea marks her spot on the page with her finger while she turns her head up. "What's this about goblins? I don't think I've seen one here the whole time we've been here." [17:50:45] * Lidya looks up. "Hi there. What's going on?" [17:51:26] Goblins! Isn't it great? [17:51:46] * Stella nods. "Yes, it is goblins. I'm not sure it is so wonderful, but friend Wurr seems very excited!" [17:52:07] What's this about goblins? [17:52:10] Goblins? Plural? [17:52:17] ...goblins? Oh, dear! First kobolds, now goblins... what next, kuo-toa? [17:52:41] ...do they squish like the others? [17:53:15] Goblins are trouble. Kuo-toa are good eats, I hear. If you catch some, I'll cook 'em up. [17:54:02] Any idea what they're doing? Causing trouble? Looking for something? Generally being a nuisance? [17:54:10] * Ierikc yawns. He's reading a large book: quite larger than his head, actually. It's really quite cute. He peeks up at the rest of the party from where he's sitting. "Goblins you say?" [17:54:58] * Stella nods. "Goblins we do." [17:55:33] They are Goblins! It doesn't matter. You go, sneak up on them, and shout boo. [17:56:19] Well, they can't be a proper challenge then for a mighty warrior such as yourself. [17:56:27] So we found some goblins? [17:56:27] * Ierikc gives a short, quiet laugh. "Well, maybe you could tell us what about goblins is happening?" [17:56:27] * Althea manages to say that with only a little sneer in her voice. [17:57:27] * Wurr doesn't notice the sneer at all. [18:00:05] Well, they are likely a danger to the recovering community, due to the possiblity of them moving in large numbers. [18:00:40] Well, how many were there. I'm guessing... five. [18:00:58] Oh! they breed like Roaches and multiple fast. [18:01:08] * Wurr has no racist ideals, none at all, why do you ask? [18:01:50] Hm. Well, better go find out what they want. [18:02:11] * Ierikc clears his throat, trying not to look offended but failing. "So you discovered some goblins nearby?" [18:02:43] Yes, and it seems like we know nothing about them. And by we, I mean Wurr. [18:03:10] * Wurr blinks and looks at Althea. "I grew up being taught about them. I know about them." [18:04:09] Perhaps a dozen in all. Certainly more than five; probably less than two score. [18:05:03] Wurr has plans for giving them embarrassing loincloth problems. I was perhaps wondering about some other solution. [18:05:04] Which direction were they coming from? [18:07:31] From a generally southern direction; roughly from around the area of the inn where we all had the glorious fortune of meeting one another. [18:08:03] * Wurr shakes his head. [18:08:15] That doesn't sound too good. [18:10:06] Huh. There wasn't a goblin problem when we were over there last. [18:10:21] Wanna go meet them? [18:11:18] Yes. [18:12:11] Alright. Shall we head out now, or set out in morning? [18:12:21] I doubt that they are a threat really. [18:12:35] If they were, we'd have heard something by now. [18:12:43] Yeah. ANd there aren't too many of them [18:13:39] Mmmm. Careful when you stir a hornet's nest. [18:14:40] So you think they'll leave Corlenn alone? [18:15:33] A band that small that hasn't really been stirring up trouble? I doubt they'll be an issue. [18:15:58] If they insist on meeting them, I shall assist, but I don't rightly figure the need. [18:16:20] * Wurr frowns a bit, looking confused. [18:16:42] It's a bit weird though, don't you think? [18:17:48] Well. I suppose it is a bit small for a tribe. [18:19:42] * Althea shrugs. [18:20:50] Could be an advanced scout. [18:21:01] Nah, I don't think they are that smart. [18:22:38] So all we know is that there's about two dozen goblins headed our way from where we were before? [18:23:32] I thought they said only one dozen. [18:24:00] [The goblins are multiplying already!] [18:24:40] Oh my god they're breeding. [18:25:25] * Althea shudders. [18:26:29] I told you. [18:26:35] * Wurr looks smug. [18:27:06] So, are we going to parley with these goblins? [18:27:58] Sure. Maybe it'll shake things up, maybe get us some new leads. [18:29:58] * Ierikc rolls his eyes. [18:31:07] * Althea dogears the page of her spellbook she's on before closing it. [18:31:26] * Wurr looks...disturbed at Athea marking her page. [18:31:37] Woah... isn't it dangerous to do that to spellbooks? [18:32:18] I get spellbooks with large margins. [18:33:01] It still hurts the paper... [18:33:36] Yeah, but magic can fix that. [18:34:14] oh... [18:36:06] So, are we going to go, or are we going to debate the merits of goblins? Possibly pertaining to pies? [18:36:40] They make green pie. I don't like my pie green. [18:36:57] Their pies aren't ripe? [18:37:10] I hear they make good meat pies. [18:38:01] Not really. I always get indigestion eating one of the meat pies made by them. [18:38:39] [After setting out, our intrepid band hears the goblins in the distance, discussing things. They'er apparently not trying to be stealthy, but they're not visible throught the trees, just yet.] [18:39:24] * Lidya tries to listen. She can understand Goblin. [18:39:56] * Wurr doesn't understand goblin, that doesn't stop him from being an expert though. [18:40:21] * Althea is hanging out towards the back of the group. "What are they doing?" [18:42:16] Perhaps we should hide so they don't find us? [18:43:39] * Stella shrugs. [18:43:53] Are you intending to talk to them or ambush them? [18:44:14] Hm. [18:44:37] * Lidya speaks quietly. "They're planning something. THey're going to watch the guard rotations and plan from there. ANd something about "the Master."" [18:45:06] Master? [18:45:12] Mmm. [18:45:19] So they are certainly planning *something*. [18:45:39] And they've done whatever it is they've done before. [18:45:57] Well, wanna go get 'em? [18:46:20] Can we figure out what their plan is before ambushing them? [18:46:46] THey don't ahve one yet. They're watching the rotations and planning from there. [18:49:05] I'm still not sure that they're up to anything. [18:49:51] Have you ever heard of any good coming from anyone called "The Master"? [18:50:24] Wait. They've ofund a way to get into the town. They're going to scout it out. Or one guy is, anyway. He's been warned not to get caught. [18:50:25] ( Clearly, they're watching the guard rotations so they can sneak in unseen and deliver toys to the children of the town. ) [18:50:51] * Wurr keeps his mouth shut, if he can hear them they can hear him. [18:51:21] Well, servants often call their employer their "Master" out of respect. [18:51:43] Let's catch this scout, hmm? [18:51:58] Or at least discover what this scout is really looking for. [18:52:07] Sounds good [18:53:02] * Ierikc nudges the others and motions to be quiet. "Get out of sight if you don't want to get found." [18:53:11] * Ierikc ducks away to hide. [18:53:31] Right [18:53:35] * Lidya goes to hide [18:53:35] * Althea ducks away to hide. [18:53:45] (As well as she can, anyway.) [18:53:47] * Wurr tries to find a rock or big tree to hide behind. [18:57:03] * A goblin in worn out travel wear and carrying no visible weapons steps into view. As he passes by, he stops, and looks right at Wurr. He seems to decide better of admitting he saw the big blue orc "hiding" behind the sapling, but his eyes widen as he spots Stella and Althea. He goes running back the way he came. [18:57:32] My, my. I think we have been spotted. [18:58:29] I think we should withdraw. [18:58:38] * Wurr starts running after him, only to stop when he hears Althea. [19:00:50] * Lidya hears them talking and frowns. [19:02:30] [Someone can be heard walking back this way from the group of Goblins.] [19:02:46] * Lidya tries to see/hear it. [19:02:46] * Althea begins backing away back towards the city. [19:03:19] * Wurr stands there out in the open not even attempting to hide. [19:04:57] [A goblin wearing worn, dirty finery that hangs a bit loosely on his frame tromps into view. He's carrying a large (for him) battle-axe. He points it at Wurr as he catches his breath, before declaring in common, "I challenge you for the women, Water Orc."] [19:05:28] * Stella tilts her head. "Excuse me?" [19:05:29] * Althea sighs. [19:05:44] * Wurr falls over laughing, -hard-. "Take them!" [19:06:04] (Jerk.) [19:06:06] * The goblin blinks. "Excellent. Ladies, if you'll come with us..." [19:06:13] * Wurr is still gafawing, body shaking. "I dare you." [19:07:33] * Other goblins are stepping into view, some holding crossbows trained on Wurr. They don't seem to have noticed Ierikc. [19:08:01] * Wurr suddenly sobers up at this, verly slowly trying to stand up. [19:08:29] Alright, come now, we don't have all day. Let's get going, Ladies. *gestures for them to follow him, and turns to lead off* [19:09:01] * Althea is continuing to sneak away. [19:09:32] ...seriously, stop hiding them if you don't want a fight, Water Orc. [19:10:56] Hiding what? [19:11:24] * Althea casts Expeditious Retreat and bolts for the city. Fast. [19:11:26] The women. I know there were at least two... *glancing from Stella to...well, she's the only one he can see besides Wurr* [19:11:40] She's running! [19:11:54] I'm not hiding an... have I mentioned I want a fight? [19:11:58] * Wurr draws swords. [19:12:28] * The elderly, axe-wielding goblin finally notices the other one, and sighs. "Very well, but not while that one gets away." [19:14:00] * Stella isn't hiding, really. She seems confused. "I'm sorry, what is all this about?" [19:14:32] I'll explain later. For now... *charges Wurr* [19:18:20] * The goblin lays into Wurr with his axe! It hurts. ;_; [19:23:05] * Lidya steps out and goes after the leader. She stabs at him from behind [19:24:14] * The goblin twists a bit, but still takes it in the shoulder, near the bone. "Ach! Ow, little lady. I see how it is, then!" [19:29:18] * Ierikc runs out near Wurr and raises his holy symbol high, a positive feeling of strength breezing over his allies as he shouts in Draconic. [19:34:25] * Wurr winces a bit. "That hurt. That hurt a lot." He sounds distant. "Did I mention I'm not a two handed fighter?" He drops the sword in his right hand, grabs the one in his left with both and slams it down on the poor goblin. [19:35:22] * The goblin looks...hurt. Not debilitated, but hurt. Bleeding from his head, he mutters something, then shouts an order in goblin. [19:36:41] They're running! [19:38:52] * Four crossbow bolts fly, though only one strikes home, hitting the elderly goblin in the back. One of the unarmed goblins flings a sling-stone at Lidya, cracking her hard on the back of her head, before retreating along with the crossbowmen. The other unarmed goblin suddenly has a dagger in his hand, and interposes himself between Stella and the knot of combatants around the goblin leader...who looks a bit less worn than he did a [19:39:22] ((looks a bit less worn than he did a moment ago.)) [19:39:47] Ow! [19:40:41] They're leaving! Let them run! [19:41:38] Ah? Very well. [19:41:56] I did not know you spoke goblin, friend Althea. [19:42:14] They don't look like they're running Althea. [19:42:39] [The goblins except for the leader and the one between Stella and the party are, in fact, withdrawing.] [19:42:40] ( /me points at the "retreating along with the crossbowmen" line in Segev's statement. ) [19:43:35] I don't have to speak it to see them leaving. [19:43:40] * Stella points the gobling in front of her after the others, still all smiles. "You'd better go, before you get hurt." [19:43:45] * Ierikc points at the two that AREN'T leaving. [19:44:17] * The goblin Stella spoke to looks over his shoulder at the leader, who nods. They both duck and run. The leader waddles slightly as he does so. [19:45:43] * Wurr frowns. "The Females are scarier then I! Don't go near them or THEY will attack." [19:46:16] It's nice to hear you finally admit that, Wurr. [19:47:12] *not the leader* We know! *RUNS!* [19:47:32] * Althea stomps her foot. "Hey!" [19:48:17] * Wurr waits for a couple seconds before he finds a tree to sit down against. "Cleric....." [19:48:42] * Ierikc rolls his eyes and taps Wurr on the side, a healing glow imparting itself before he snaps and it heals Wurr's wounds, leaving him as good as new in about a minute. [19:49:20] Goblins don't hurt like that. [19:49:43] Goblins don't normally wield greataxes. [19:50:01] I said to leave them alone more than a few times. [19:50:01] * Ierikc walks over to something about 30 feet away, picking it up. [19:50:11] * Wurr frowns and will slowly stagger going to his feet going to pick something off the ground...only to be beaten to it. [19:50:12] Goblins don't normally speak such good Common. [19:50:31] Hey, what is that blue thing? [19:50:33] I think we should have taken care of the problem permanently. I have a feeling that goblin'll come back seeking revenge. [19:50:44] [It's a small, blue-glazed vase. Looks nice, but is actually not terribly high-quality.] [19:51:00] * Ierikc holds it up and inspects it carefully. [19:51:38] Well, we know they aren't here to be our FRIENDS now. [19:51:51] Why did they want you? [19:52:22] * Althea walks over to look at the vase as well. [19:52:26] * Lidya rubs her head where she got hit. [19:52:44] * Althea is ignoring Wurr's question for the moment. [19:52:51] No idea. All they said was to hand over the females, right? [19:53:05] Probably thought the big mean orc was kidnapping us. [19:53:24] * Ierikc heafts the vase in two hands. "How do you know that?" [19:53:45] I don't. Hence the 'probably' on the front of my sentance. [19:54:22] * Stella blinks and takes off her boot, shaking it a bit. [19:54:31] I don't think I could kidnap any one of you. [19:54:49] I don't think so either. I'm faster than you if I put my mind to it, after all. [19:54:50] I dunno. You're pretty big and strong. [19:54:52] * A bat comes flying out of Stella's boot when she shakes it. ...it's pink and very fuzzy. And squeaks. [19:55:17] * Stella blinks. [19:55:25] My, my. What an unusual little bat. [19:55:46] * Wurr stares at the pink bat... "Althea did you cast "Be uber and mind numblingly drunk" on me?" [19:56:02] Oooh. Cute. [19:56:04] I somehow find that unlikely, but... Uh... [19:56:06] Hey, I've got a new idea for a spell. [19:56:06] * Ierikc blinks. [19:56:08] What is that? [19:56:14] It needs a name? [19:56:18] SOmething magnificent. [19:56:28] It looks flashy. Stylish. Knows how to please a crowd. [19:56:52] * The bat lands on Stella's head. [19:56:56] Hey, Ierikc, can I have the vase? I have quite the collection of pottery back home. [19:57:03] * Stella smiles and reaches up to scritch the bat. [19:57:24] * It chirp-squeaks happilly. It's adorable. [19:57:27] Awww. [19:57:37] It's a pink bat. It's like a pink elephant but higher pitched. [19:58:41] And smaller with wings. [19:59:00] And an elephant won't fit in your inn room. [19:59:21] * Upon closer inspection, the bat even has a cute little pink bow. [19:59:25] * Ierikc hmms. "Well, if you're interested. Maybe you can show me your collection when I visit." [19:59:25] Awwwww. [19:59:29] How'd it get into your shoe? [19:59:58] * Wurr sighs. "Shall we head back?" [20:00:20] It's not a terribly impressive collection, but if you're interested, sure. [20:00:38] Sounds good. [20:00:45] * Ierikc smiles. "Good, maybe you can also stay to one name before that happens." [20:01:43] What fun is that? [20:03:57] * Ierikc blinks. "Hey Stella. Did you know your boot is magical?" [20:04:25] Magical? [20:04:32] No, but I had wondered. [20:04:52] I have a feeling that's why it seems to always have animals. [20:05:00] It seems to produce at least one small, adorable furry creature per day. [20:05:06] Although this is the first pink one. [20:05:15] What happens to them after the day's over? [20:05:24] * Ierikc snaps. "Creature poofs." [20:05:25] * The bat squeaks preciously. [20:05:37] * Lidya frowns. [20:05:52] * Althea holds her fox Jessie that she keeps on her person. "I've already got a pet." [20:06:05] * Ierikc smiles. "It's like any summoning spell." [20:06:16] Oh well. Maybe the bat'll be back again to visit someday. [20:06:20] * Wurr even looks upset. "It's sad they disapper." [20:06:24] When you summon a creature, it copies the essence and makes a duplicate. [20:06:39] When the creature is killed, or when the duration expires, the creature vanishes. [20:06:48] Ah... [20:06:55] So somewhere out there, there's the real bat. [20:07:19] That's pink with a bow, yes. [20:07:45] Aw. [20:08:13] Ah! What a lucky owner. [20:09:39] * Jessie looks nonplussed at being held up. [20:10:17] * Ierikc starts back to town. "Hmmm, this vase is odd. There's some residual transmutation magic about it. Maybe it was fixed at some point with a mending spell." [20:11:03] It doesn't look expensive enough to merit being fixed like that. [20:12:01] I wonder what it is. [20:12:44] Well, we can find out in town. [20:12:55] Ya never know. [20:16:38] [And so, they saved the town from the evil goblins!] [20:16:41] [End Session.] End of #TD&DG buffer Tue Mar 04 20:17:20 2008
