Start of #TD&DG buffer: Tue Apr 01 20:03:17 2008 [17:39:42] [The day after the goblins were dealt with, work continued investigating cures for lycanthropy. Unfortunately, the majority of what has been discovered so far is the extent to which Carblinkarn infected the local children; according to Tag, he has attacked all four of the towns, and word of strange behavior from some travelers from other towns seems to back it up.] [17:46:07] [By noon, it has become clear that Lidya is not coming out of her room on her own. However, Ierikc and Althea, examining Carblinkarn's records and some arcane texts, have discovered that an apothacary of some skill purchases many expensive alchemicals, and deals in odd cures, in the town of Mardeux. | Scene: Lunch time in the halfing family's inn | Cast: Everybody but Lidya | Start!] [17:48:01] * Wurr is buying booze already, for himself and if he can get away with it any of the local kids. [17:48:27] * Althea doesn't let Wurr give booze to the kids if he does it while she is around. [17:48:34] * Ierikc doesn't mind Wurr getting the kids booze. After all, it's better than the water around here. [17:49:30] * Bert is eyeing Wurr disapprovingly when he slips any kids some alcohol, though Tag has availed himself of Wurr's generosity. [17:50:14] * Althea sits at a table in the inn along the wall that she has taken over. It has various small devices of no major note on it, crowding any food that people should want to order for lunch. "So, anyone know how far away this Mardeux is?" [17:50:38] * Wurr isn't giving them great amounts but...He'll keep slipping little sips to them here and there. [17:50:51] * Stella likes charity! [17:54:20] It's...umm...west. I think. [17:54:58] * Ierikc is reading a book as usual, not partaking of the food. [17:57:44] We might need better directions than that. [17:59:15] * Wurr shrugs. "Just set out and ask directions along the way." He hands his almost but not really empty mug to one of the kids for a refill. [17:59:58] Mmmm [18:00:13] * Ierikc flips the page of the (comparatively) large book in his hands. [18:01:49] I'm sure we can get directions before we leave. [18:03:33] Let me see if I can get some. [18:03:46] I ask about Mardeux, even though none of you have asked, because apparently there's someone there who specializes in odd cures. Hopefully he'll have an idea what we can do to start curing this epidemic. [18:05:02] Really? We should go! [18:05:46] Well, that's what I was thinking. [18:06:28] * Wurr shrugs. "As I said I'll see what I can do." [18:07:47] Oh? Well, perhaps they can help us out here. [18:07:50] I'll come along. I think most of the kids here are as okay as they're going to get, so any cure we can find... Well, there are others I should let know he's dead, there, too. [18:08:13] Yeah feel free to tag along Tag. [18:08:23] I bet he's good at tagging along. [18:08:38] I would hope so. [18:08:55] Very funny. [18:09:33] * Tag snorts, though Bert giggles behind his hand at Tag's discomforture. [18:10:11] Anyways, according to Carblinkarn's notes, it was about a three week travel from here to Mardeux, stopping at Orlan Castle. [18:11:22] I wonder if that's because the road goes through there or if it's just a nearby stop. [18:12:15] * Wurr scoffs a bit. [18:12:32] Well, the more stops a mechant makes, the more profit they get. [18:13:00] He's being slow. [18:13:05] ...if we go to the Castle, we'll have to hurry, anyway, right? We can't stop there, since it's only two weeks until the full moon... [18:13:26] Time is of the essense, yes. [18:13:38] That was not including time stopped. [18:14:39] We also won't be slowed by a caravan of trade goods following us. [18:15:57] But we probably should leave as soon as possible. Can the rest of you be ready to go tomorrow? [18:17:37] * Wurr sighs heavily and grabs his backpack yanking out a spell book and slamming it down flipping through and stopping at a beautifully drawn map. "Here, this is where we are, this is where we are going." He points at a place nestled in the mountians. "Two weeks tops. He stopped Here." Points at a place that wold make a triangle between the other two points. "It adds at least a week. AND he was slow." [18:18:22] * Stella nods. "I can be ready immediately if need be." [18:19:04] Makes sense, I didn't think he was taking a direct route. [18:20:19] That's an impressive map, Wurr. [18:21:37] * Wurr sighs. "Look, I like knowing where I'm going and where I've been." [18:21:39] But it does solve our directions problem. [18:21:49] * Bert and Tag crowd in under the adults to peer at it. Bert whistles low at the map. [18:22:01] Are your guiding skills as good as the map you carry, Wurr? [18:22:31] I am not a skilled guider, but I can follow a map. [18:22:55] * Ierikc nods. "I can guide us where we need to go." [18:24:11] Well, hooray teamwork. [18:24:38] I'll be ready. ...where's Lidya? [18:24:48] In her room maybe. [18:25:04] * Althea picks up one of her table ornaments as it makes a clack noise. She looks at the underside of it and puts it back down. "I don't know what she's been up to, but we should find her and tell her to be ready to leave tomorrow." [18:27:15] * Stella frowns. "Oh, poor, dear Lidya. She is taking this hard?" [18:27:48] ...wait did she get bit? [18:28:41] It's possible, I suppose. [18:28:54] * Ierikc nods. "And she's diseased, but they weren't able to tell with what." [18:30:20] * Wurr stands up heading up the stairs. [18:30:31] Well, all the better reason to hurry off, isn't it? [18:31:12] I couldn't agree more. I wouldn't want to have to deal with more transformees than we have to. [18:33:18] * Wurr will gently knock first, waiting. [18:33:55] * Lidya goes "uh...?" in response. [18:34:25] Open open! It's morning. [18:35:03] [Technically, as of five minutes ago, it's afternoon. But Wurr's just an orc; what do they know of time?] [18:37:21] * Lidya turns the lower halfling-height doorknob. She's looking pale, and a bit wobbly. She's also wearing a blanket around her. Wrapped around multiple times. She shivers and struggles to keep her balance, and her eyes are unfocused. [18:37:32] Freezing... [18:38:47] Riiiiiiiiight. You go back to your bed and lay there, Uncle Wurr is going to bash heads till he gets medican for you, Okay? [18:38:57] * Stella frowns. "I don't think these are the normal symptoms of lycanthropy." [18:38:58] * Wurr gives his nicest friendliest smile. It's not reassuring. [18:39:22] They aren't. [18:39:30] Otherwise you'd see the rest of the kids displaying them. [18:40:08] * Althea is in the common room of the inn, so she doesn't see this happening. [18:40:13] I know I don't feel sick. *frowning* [18:40:51] * Stella nods. "Friend Ierick, are you familiar with these symptoms?" [18:45:26] * Wurr turns around and heads back downstairs. "Right, Medic, Now." [18:46:41] * Lidya lies down. Right where she stands. She's ewaring enough layers and blankets that she wobbles back and forth briefly. Like a bowling pin. [18:48:21] * Althea looks up at Wurr. "What's the problem?" [18:49:11] I hope Lidya is okay? [18:49:20] *wobble* [18:50:02] Lidya is... have you even seen slug vomit? She looks like that. [18:51:00] Wait, so does she look like a slug vomitting or does she look like the product of a slug vomitting? [18:51:09] mmm. [18:51:41] * Ierikc gets on his feet and starts walking up the stairs. "Perhaps I should have a look then." [18:52:03] Sounds like she wants to keep visitors at a minimum, so I'll stay down here unless I'm needed. [18:53:53] Both. [18:54:30] If any of you have some sort of medical knowledge, an assistant would be appreciated. [18:55:06] * Tag snorts, and Bert looks worried. [18:55:08] Medicine is not my specialty. [18:55:40] I shall attempt to assist you, friend Ierick. [18:56:08] * Wurr grunts. "I'm no nurse." [18:56:15] Thank you. [18:56:47] * Althea takes another spoonful of stew that has long gone cold. "I wonder what she's come down with." [18:58:39] * Ierikc walks up and checks Lidya out. Various things and tests are done, including the "aaaah" test, the cough test, testing breathing, heart rate, and checking the skin for any markings. Ierikc doesn't seem to care much, if at all, for Lidya's modesty, and goes about his task in a professional manner. [18:58:51] * Althea messes with another one of her knickknacks when it goes ding. Specifically, she turns it upside down and puts it back on the table. [18:59:41] * Lidya doesn't care for her modesty either! Partly because she's totally out of it. [19:00:00] * Stella aids as she can. [19:00:00] Well, I've got some good news and some bad news. What do you want first? [19:00:03] * Tag seems to be arranging a few of the knick-knacks Althea's not messing with into a pair of guard towers, with smaller ones as soldiers. [19:00:48] * He sighed and just sat back down drinking* [19:04:23] * Althea takes the knickknacks that Tag is stacking up. "Hey, I have those measuring things. Don't mess around with them." [19:04:42] ...measuring -what-? [19:05:20] Hush. Ierikc has news. Um, the bad news, first, please? [19:05:47] ((Or was Ierikc still upstairs? If so, GM screwed up...again.)) [19:05:54] (I'm asking Lidya that) [19:06:01] ( aah ) [19:06:04] buh...? [19:06:07] bad. [19:06:38] You've got Filth Fever. Nasty thing that. You should still be able to operate but... [19:06:59] * Ierikc taps Lidya's head. "It's going to feel pretty miserable while you're sick." [19:07:36] (strike Bert's comment, then.) [19:07:58] nngn [19:10:24] On the bright side, I find it unlikely you'd also contract lycanthropism because of this. After all, wererats often carry diseases such as Filth Fever but suffer no ill effects." [19:11:32] * Stella beams with joy. "Your illness brings good tidings, friend Lidya!" [19:11:51] hng..? mm. good. what now [19:16:06] I'm going to get my stuff together. When and where should I meet you to go to Mardeux? [19:17:48] I suggest you get some rest. You can still come with us, you'll just have to take it easy until you've recovered. [19:17:58] * Lidya nods. "S'fine." [19:19:30] * Wurr looks over at Althea. "Beer?" [19:20:04] No thank you. I don't drink beer. I have to remain in total control of my mental facilities. [19:20:39] I'll take some to go. [19:20:42] * Ierikc turns to Stella. "You can relate the good news to those downstairs, I'll tend to Lydia and make sure she's set on the fast path to recovery." [19:22:37] * Wurr shrugs. "If you can convince them to give it to you to go I'll pay." [19:23:43] ...rats. *gets up and heads out* [19:23:50] * Wurr looks over at Althea, smirking dirtily, "What happens if you lose control? The fox takes it from you?" [19:23:54] * Bert laughs. [19:24:23] * Jessica nods primly, as she nudges one of the knick-knacks three inches to the left, invading the personal space of three others. [19:25:06] thanks.. [19:25:54] Manipulating the very elements of time and space require concentration. My ability to do so suffers if my mind is hazed. I'd be reduced to a common fighter like you. [19:26:09] * Ierikc goes about making sure Lidya is all comfy. [19:26:23] * Althea picks up Jessica and removes her from the table before setting up her instruments again. [19:27:04] * Jessica has cleverly stolen one of Althea's instruments. And the last bite of meat out of Althea's stew. [19:27:11] * Wurr laughs -hard-. "I'd like to see you fighting, for all your talk you wouldn't know a sword if one got shoved in your face unsheathed. [19:28:19] * Lidya is made relatively comfy. Even though she is freezing [19:30:26] * Stella walks down the staris to where Althea is and the others are waiting. "Friends, good news! While very sick, we have administered aid to our friend Lidya, and discovered that it is very unlikely she will turn mousey!" [19:30:38] Is that what you call that thing you swing about? You swing it like a frozen fish. [19:31:33] And you don't have enough magic to cook that fish. It is good that Lidya isn't going to be a mouse, that way you get cheese with your whine. [19:32:05] * Bert looks relieved at Stella's news. "Will she be okay, otherwise?" [19:32:39] * Althea turns to Stella. "Oh, good. There's no telling what animal will come out of your boot to try and eat Lidya if she's a mouse." [19:33:21] [Oddly enough, there are no animals in Stella's boot at the moment.] [19:33:35] (Amazing!) [19:34:56] * Stella nods. "And yes, friend Bert, she is very likely to recover well." [19:35:47] Good. If I can help... [19:39:20] [Upon hearing of Lidya's illness, the innkeeper has her son (the one who's been spending time with the heroic halfling) take some hot broth up to her room.] [19:39:21] * Ierikc stands up after getting Lidya all bundled up. "I suggest plenty of fluids and keeping warm." [19:39:30] And soup. Lots of soup. [19:39:43] Ah... thanks... [19:39:55] * Lidya seems to be returning to her senses. "How is everyone else?" [19:45:57] We're getting ready to depart for Mardeux tomorrow, there's a healer there that can hopefully cure the spread of furryness about. [19:46:32] Oh, that's good... how long will that be/ [19:47:59] We'll be gone for two weeks, at least. You're coming with us though, you should be better in a matter of days, and on the way we could undoubtably use your expertise once you're recovered. [19:48:13] Right. [19:48:30] I wouldn't want to be stuck here while you're all off anyway. Not that I don't enjoy the company here. [19:48:55] * Stella nods. [19:52:43] How'd you learn this? [19:53:02] Research, searching around town, the usual. [19:53:11] * Lidya nods. [19:53:22] When do we leave? How are the others doing? [19:53:34] As for the Filth Fever, I could tell you but it could be pretty gory. And we leave tomorrow, we only have two weeks until the next full moon. [19:53:48] About. [19:57:46] Two weeks? How long has it been since I fell sick? [19:59:11] Not that long. [19:59:21] Heck, you probably know better than the rest of us. [20:00:51] I remmeber being cold, then just sleeping and trying to find warm things. [20:02:09] I'll try to get ready to go. [20:02:32] [As Lidya tried to recover some semblance of stamina while saving her strength for the travel to come the next day, the others prepared their gear and travelling supplies.] [20:02:35] [End Session.] End of #TD&DG buffer Tue Apr 01 20:03:17 2008
