[18:35:45] Well, minus the lunch break, 10 [18:36:07] Yeah, I get time-and-a-half for every hour I worked after 5 extra hours. [18:36:12] My video card died on me. >_> [18:36:15] The first 5 extra hours a week I don't get paid for [18:36:16] it overheated [18:36:42] I normally get paid lunches, but if I want overtime, they expect me to work through lunch, or not get paid for it. [18:36:52] which seems to be why my com was crashing randomly the last week. [18:36:55] Geez. You alright? [18:37:11] Wait, the first 5? That sucks. [18:37:19] They should be paying you overtime for each hour. [18:37:27] I want to say yeah, I'm fine.... but my fingers are actually starting to twitch [18:37:32] Geez [18:38:07] Adyen: It does, but I can see their point. Basically, I get paid 40 hours of work, even though i only actually do 35. And that's all year round. [18:38:11] * Yon is now known as Megumi [18:38:43] You live in the states? [18:38:50] We all do, except Yon [18:38:52] So if I wanna fatten my paycheck, they expect me to actually work the 40 first before I get any extra [18:38:54] Yeah [18:38:55] And Gtab [18:39:40] That's stupid cause I'm pretty sure you're by law supposed to have at least half an hour per 8 hours of work to rest. In Canada, I think it's 1 hour for each 8. [18:40:10] It's not really a matter of 'working the amount they're paying you', but your health. [18:40:13] But they're not required by law to pay for it. [18:40:27] Adyen: How dead is your video card? LIke, totally has to be replaced? :( [18:40:41] It's totally dead. I'm using the motherboard's built-in right now. [18:40:49] ick [18:40:58] I need to buy a new one if I want to even play online games. >_> [18:44:00] * Demota nods :/ [18:46:24] It also means I'm not watching the Nanoha movie even if I could download it when it gets torrented... *sigh* [18:46:30] * Adyen is now known as Emmy [18:46:32] * Emmy is now known as Adyen [18:46:36] * Adyen is now known as Emmy [18:47:04] * Charles is now known as Kentaro [18:50:06] [18:48:16] [The next day is a nice warm sunny one.] [18:50:06] [18:48:37] [Morning classes drag on a bit, and the thought of being outside probably doesn't help matters.] [18:50:06] [18:48:42] [Soon, though, lunch arrives.] [18:50:06] [18:48:48] ( And I need to start assigning days again ) [18:50:06] [18:50:01] [Session Start] [18:50:08] Hop in [18:51:31] Ya... I think. Anyone know Japanese schools that can prove me wrong? [19:07:55] I think you're right. *shrug* [19:09:20] Emmy is a second year... if I remember correctly. [19:09:31] Ah [19:09:40] So she's likely on second floor [19:09:47] Ya, she's in 2-1 [19:09:48] And Megumi, bieng a first-year, is on the first [19:09:49] I'm not sure if all schools are the same. I think my school only had two stories. [19:09:58] * Demota nods [19:10:00] So she's right by the stairs, probably. [19:10:18] Alright, so if you guys wanna contact the third years, you probably gotta call them [19:11:01] Ehh... I'd assume it's the day of the tests that we were studying for or something? [19:11:35] If you want, sure [19:16:36] Ack, I gotta go eat. [19:16:39] I'll be back after. [19:19:38] l [19:19:39] k [19:24:00] * Rowyn (rowyn2001@66.201.146.49) Quit (Ping timeout: 180 seconds) [19:27:00] Err... I'm going to take a quick bath. I think I really need it. >_> [19:32:17] Oh man, AC2 has a bullshit 'go back and collect the items you missed' sequence before the last level :( [19:36:25] :( [19:37:16] I guess it's important to the plot, since I looked ahead on Wikipedia, except I already have all the codex pages in my files section somehow, and the game could have just said 'Ezio collected them during the corrupted memories downtime' [19:37:28] The Animus is kind of a weird technology, conceptually [19:38:29] Like, ignoring that it apparently reads racial memories in DNA and creates a false world, it also seems to be, like, a VR system that creates worlds out of memories, but can only accept a certain level of deviation from those memories before booting a user out [19:38:47] It's got so many levels of sci-fi bullshit operating simultaneousl [19:39:14] Yeah [19:39:53] Ok, back. AC2? Armored Core? :D [19:40:20] Assassin's Creed 2 [19:40:38] ohhhh [19:42:19] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LSP7zFIWX0 what the... [19:44:15] My favorite 'did they think that out' moment so far was the ceremony where you're inducted as an assassin, and everyone leaves the tower by jumping out quickly one after the other. And when you do it, you land in a haypile at its base [19:44:37] And all I can imagine are, like, eight assassins just flopping onto one another in this haypile because they seriously jump like a half-second apart [19:44:49] hahah [19:54:16] Oh man, I just read the very end of the AC2 plot, and *wow* [19:54:33] They'd better hope they get AC3 out fast to resolve the trilogy or else it's gonna look pretty silly [20:09:57] All right, I'm back. [20:10:22] Hey [20:10:24] Blegh, sorry I was gone so long [20:10:47] My body decided "Hey, your cold isn't shitty enough, have an IBS flareup!" [20:10:56] D: [20:10:58] Are you ok? [20:11:13] Yeah, I think I'll be alright now [20:11:16] damn [20:11:17] IBS? [20:11:42] I've told you about it before, do I really need to type it all out? D: [20:12:38] nah [20:14:31] * Rowyn (rowyn2001@66.201.146.49) has joined #Exalted [20:37:54] Can we just assume we did it while they were alone or something? [20:38:12] Cause there seems to be some time-lapse between the two group anyways. [20:38:49] If Megumi wants to talk to Emmy, yeah [20:38:56] Yeah, considering I was afk, why don't we just assume they did [20:39:17] Sure [21:13:52] Sleepy, sorry. x_x [21:14:20] You're leaving now? [21:14:25] Sort of the same, but I'm also catching up with some Ar Tonelico2. [21:14:48] Nah, I can stay, but I might be quieter than usual. [21:14:56] kk [21:15:17] Should we just wrap up, or keep going? [21:15:42] Was I still on the top of the score at the end of the day? [21:16:19] Yeah [21:20:43] How far with AT2? [21:20:45] * Alt-Eisen (neorook@cpe-76-175-9-161.socal.res.rr.com) Quit (Quit: Client Exited) [21:21:40] just the last few hundred posts on the LP, actually. [21:21:51] Ah. [21:21:55] The LP not the actual game [21:22:49] Ya... after playing AT1, I gave up on ever playing its sequals. [21:29:41] Really? How come? I found the gameplay to be pretty good (even if the real appeal was in the delicious insanity) and the only real problem was how long the late game encounters took. But by that point I literally just stopped fighting them. [21:33:14] Yeah, rather curious why. [21:33:29] Yeah. AT1 makes me wanna play AT2 [21:34:36] (AT2 definitely improved the combat a lot, though. Even if I resented them taking away my inexpensive 'no random encounters ever' item. :V ) [21:36:06] Item Creation. :suicide: [21:36:21] ... what was so bad about that? ?_? [21:36:26] AT2 has a no random encounters ever item. [21:36:33] I tried to get 100% completion. [21:36:47] It's not too bad to get that [21:37:14] It is for me since I absoultely suck at every type of item creation game (like those alchimest games etc) [21:38:31] Whoo, finished Assassin's Creed 2. [21:38:56] Having gameplay during the end credits kinda seems like a big fuck you to the people who made the game, though [21:39:45] What kind of gameplay? Like, real gameplay, or like Mario's "Punch blocks" thing? [21:40:54] I was amused by the way Punch Out put in gameplay to make you actually READ the credits. :V [21:41:02] Real gameplay [21:41:12] So the credits are scrolling by pretty fast and at first it's a blackout [21:41:18] * Demota nods [21:41:28] I need to finish Title Defense mode. :( [21:41:50] But then people get all 'Holy shit, Abstergo's invading our warehouse, go out there and use the powers that you getting was obstensibly the point of the game!' [21:42:08] And as the credits are zooming by almost too fast to read, you go into the warehouse and murder maybe a dozen people [21:44:09] That's...really weird. [21:46:15] There's a lot about Assassin's Creed that's really weird. [21:46:29] I totally loved AC2, but MAN were there some fucked-up decisions [21:46:39] :o [21:46:51] I never played the first...are they both good? [21:46:59] The first is kinda tedious. [21:47:28] Like, the point of the game is 'kill these nine guys', but you have to do sidequests to make the assassinations doable first, and the side-missions are basically the same things over and over [21:47:58] The second is more like an actual game, where a plot is happening and you progress through more linearly, but it's more varied and a more solid game overall [21:48:30] * Berny nods. [21:48:36] So skip the first and play the second, probably? [21:49:32] What gets me about AC2 is that the entire *point* of the game was that Desmond, your character for the modern stuff, was prone to having the abilities of ancestors whose memories he played through imprint on him. So they ran him through the most important parts of the training of his ancestor from Renaissance Italy, and at the end of the game, he has the skills of that ancestor and is ready to go. But AC3 is going to be another time adventure. [21:49:34] Yeah. [21:50:05] The plot might be a little hard to jump into, since they don't bother explaining much, but the first isn't worth the time if you're a compulsive completionist like me [21:50:27] Hahah [21:50:43] I guess I'll read a summary of the first if I have a chance to play the second at some point. [21:50:50] * Kentaro nods [21:50:56] The second game begins in media res [21:51:03] It looked fun from the previews, anyway. :) [21:51:29] Like, in the first game, your modern character was kidnapped by this strange corporation and put through these VR tests and it's all kinda strange but it's explained over time and makes sense [21:51:41] In the second, you begin with being broken out of the corporation's laboratories. [21:51:51] I'm going to head to bed. I got work early tomorrow. [21:51:56] Night [21:52:06] Nite. [21:52:09] And people are shouting about Abstergo and Templars and Assassins and nothing makes a goddamn *ounce* of sense if you're coming in unprepared [21:52:11] Night [21:52:20] Haha. I guess that stuff's mentioned in the first? [21:52:24] Maybe we can fast track a bit next week into more events? :p [21:52:24] Yeah [21:53:23] Events like what? [21:53:27] Basically, long story short, the Assassins and Templars are these two factions who've been around for at least a thousand years. The templars want to make the world orderly and safe and are willing to destroy free will for it. The assassins are trying to protect freedom and the sanctity of the individual. [21:53:45] * Berny nods. [21:53:45] And Abstergo is the modern incarnation of the Templars, or at least one branch of it [21:54:18] Stuff that we've been preparing for a while like the wedding or more on those people Kentaro's sister were looking for. [21:54:57] Well, what steps have you taken towards the weather situation? [21:55:04] But, like, what's really obnoxious is the fact that the game's now established that you've got your assassin super powers, and VERY IMPORTANT stuff is happening. [21:55:20] And the next game is going to be 'whoop, time to fuck around in your ancestral memories again!' [21:55:51] Oh ya... going to have to rp off a bit of that prayer, aren't I? [21:57:02] Not that I mind, but I think the game's really got to a point where it can't support its own premise when it's heavily implied that your modern guy is a messianic figure and the world might end in a month or two, and you're going on virtual reality adventures instead of dealing with that shit [21:57:16] Like WoW? [21:57:18] Maybe virtual reality and reality will blend [21:57:54] Haha [21:59:22] I thought that's kind of the point, since you're going all "I know kung fu" after spending time training in VR. [22:00:21] Dem: They *did* say that people who get overexposed to the animus can become trapped in their own ancestral memories, and that someone who was affected by that and could control it would be amazing, so maybe Desmond won't need a big machine to fuck around in the past ignoring the apocalyptic scenario playing out around him >:( [22:00:47] haha [22:01:21] I guess my ideal scenario for an Assassin's Creed 3 might be, like, a mis of Desmond levels where you're going to trouble spots and dealing with the crisis, and then, like, a vignette where you're some relevant ancestor who experienced something he needs to know [22:02:18] There's been talk of having the next one set during World War 2, in Arthurian England, or in Feudal Japan, and it kinda seems like that might be a decent way to cover a lot of ground and not make this into an infinity-part series [22:02:32] * Demota nods [22:03:55] (The writer of the game denied World War 2, because they wanted it set in a place that a lot of games hadn't dealt with already, in which case, good job choosing Feudal Japan. :|) [22:04:01] But ya, Emmy's gotta get a praying and then do that clensing and do the flipflop. [22:04:05] hahaha [22:04:17] Maybe they should choose Scandanavia. [22:04:23] Hahaha [22:04:24] Dracula and everything! [22:04:36] Isn't Dracula more Eastern Europe? [22:05:02] Hmm, I need to figure out how to most effectively destroy this candle... [22:05:12] hahahaha [22:05:18] Can...dle? [22:05:40] There *is* something going on in Scandinavia. I hate being so vague, but the plot twist is so weird and so out of left field that I can't really say what at all. :| [22:05:54] Hey, little heart is floating down from that broken candle! [22:06:41] Isn't a non-hockey videogame acknowledging the existence of Scandanavia already a weird plot twist out of left field? :V [22:07:07] Vicky? :P [22:07:43] Speaking of which, I can't play Vicky without my videocard. :frowny-face: Why does it have such high video requirements? [22:07:55] Because Paradox INteractive are goddamn awful programmers. [22:07:56] :( [22:08:42] (That said, Assassin's Creed 3 really needs to go full throttle into weird shit. Like, AC2 had a good serving of weird shit from fairly early on in the game, but with the way it ended, I'll be really disappointed if they're so coy about it next time out [22:08:44] Oh, so they're the western equivalent of N1. :| [22:09:01] Adyen: I gave you X-Com, yeah? [22:09:08] Maybe you could play X-COm: UFO Defense for a while [22:09:16] It's REALLY good, and I can explain the UI for you [22:09:39] Ya... I saw terrashell's LP... eh. [22:09:47] ... Terrashell? [22:09:56] Man, I kind of want to play Eternal Darkness again [22:10:11] Hahahahha I just realized something hilarious, and I'm not sure if I can say it here because it'd kinda spoil one aspect of the weird-shit plot twist [22:10:16] ( See, we NEED the processing power of the PS3 to make our games. *makes a game that just barely passes for a PS2 game*) [22:10:55] But it's so oblique that I guess it's safe: Assassin's Creed 2 is what would happen if Dan Brown wrote the screenplay for The Core [22:11:03] hahahahaha [22:11:09] Never watched it. :) [22:11:13] Same here [22:11:19] But The Core is retarded [22:11:26] See, the earth's core stopped rotating [22:11:32] So they need to get a drill car or osmething [22:11:35] And send it into the earth's core [22:11:40] Then explode an atomic bomb [22:11:44] Otherwise the earth will be destroyed [22:11:49] o_0 [22:11:58] Plan 9 From Outer Space has better science. [22:12:46] Errrr.. riiight. Anyways, now that i've finished dling something, night! [22:13:08] Night Adyen. [22:13:12] And I still want to get to the spiritual clensing thing faster so I can start playing the other Emmy. :p [22:13:27] Nite, Adyen. [22:13:33] * Emmy is now known as Adyen [22:13:34] Other Emmy? :o [22:13:41] Other. Emmy. :D [22:13:43] o_o [22:13:47] I saw about 20 minutes of The Core because my friend was watching it while waiting for something more interesting to come on. I wasn't really paying much attention because grinding Thongbear rep in WoW was ENTHRALLING in comparison. [22:13:55] * Adyen (senranda@74.12.123.138) Quit (Quit: Client Exited) [22:13:59] Hahaha, Thongbear.
